Post keep the stripes and decals?

My truck got hit (GOT REAR-ENDED post) and I am considering calling up the body shop and telling them to forget about the Lariat sticker and pinstripe, along with the 4x4 decals. This would wipe over a hundred off my deductible since they have to buy the whole kit to replace the Lariat sticker.
What do you think?

I don't mind the Lariat stripes and 4x4 decal although my 4x4 decal doesn't have the "OFF ROAD" written right next to it either. It is just subtle enough. I like to keep them very much like they were when new so when I go to sell them they look a little more recognizeable. I personally take pride in keeping one looking new for a long time. That's a trick in of itself. Especially since I plan on keeping this truck quite some time. I also don't have any dealer decals on my truck though so I think I have it where it suits me just right. Each to their own, though.

DrJeffro,

I pondered just a day before I removed the stripes/Lariat deco off of my black 2X and glad I did. If the fender badges didn't have the 3 holes in the fender to fill-n-paint, those would be gone too. Remove the stripes... looks much better without it. I think it would look even better if you removed them on your 4X. Definitely not worth a $100!

My vote is to keep the stripes. I like it on my Arizona Beige Lariat. Sets is apart from the XLT (no offense to the XLT drivers...). However, to each his own. Do what you like, personalize it to suit your taste. Remember, you are the one who gets to look out on the driveway and say "Damn nice truck!" I do everyday.....

DrJeffro,
I also just recently removed the Lariet script and pinstripe. I did decide to leave the 4x4 sticker on though.(Mine does not say off road under it) I think it makes the truck look more sporty and cleaner. Good luck with your truck.

This certainly is a subjective topic. However, I recently bought a Red SuperCrew and made sure it had the proper decals on it. I can see where a black model might look good without the decals but I prefer the decals. My two cents!

Cool

I say ditch'em. I haven't like the lariat stripes since the 97-98 model year, when it was less noticeable.

This is strictly an opinion. That's why there is chocolate and vanilla, different flavours for different tastes.

Here's what I did.
I have a 4x4 XLT Black. It had the small 4x4 logo in the back (no orp). One day while waxing I was boarded so I decided to take them off & if I did'nt like it I would put the opr decal's on since my truck has all the opr component's on it from the factory except the decal's.
I left everything off & love the look.
It look's so much cleaner.
Just my opinion though!

My silver strips and decals for my black lariat screw go great and add style (I think) to my truck. I've seen some red stripes on black that didn't look so hot. Besides, since I paid for all the extra goodies that come with the lariat, I don't want people to think I have an XLT..LOL! Not that there is anything wrong with that One thing I asked the dealer to NOT put on was their logo decal. I absolutely hate dealership decals on vehicles (especially expensive ones!) Plain and simple, if you like the stripes, thats all that matters.

Warning: Keep your trucks away from lawnmowers. Mine was sprayed by rocks by one of our employees while parked at work. Lucky it only chipped and dented the drivers door. Just got it back from the body shop..Looks good as new! Cost $300 to repair dents, paint and re-clearcoat entire door.

You sure as heck could have had mine!
I had all the striping removed at delivery.
That tape crap is about the tackiest ripoff I've even seen. Go to a paint & body shop supply store and get yourself some good looking tape, for less then 10 bucks, you'll have enough to do your truck, tool box and the wifes vaccuum.

Thats the beauty of opinions. What's one mans junk is anothers treasure. I don't think my stripes look tacky but it's fine if you do....Don't take this the wrong way, not everyone would like orange painted on white either.

With that said, it's a decision only you can make DrJeffro. I personally don't care for any stickers...so I would choose not to have them replaced.

Thanks for all the replies. I have not been convinced to take them off so I guess I will just let them be replaced.

I've changed my mind after taking delivery Dr. J. What I had seen before was a Lariat with a lasso type stripe, which I thought was gaudy. What I got was much different; plain and a bit more conservative. I'm keeping it... and the 4X4 decal too (it wasn't as big as I had thought).

I got the box of my truck repainted (Ford's great paint of course) and they didn't have a 4x4 sticker in stock... since my dealer is so far away I decided to look into the custom market for mine... I went to the body shop and saw the stripeing guy... he cut me out custom 4x4 stickers out of chrome... they go great with my HD exhaust, L tails, chrome step bars and chrome wheels. I liked the one that were stock but I will take these over the stockers anyday. 30 dollars to have them cusom made and installed... would have cost me 40 dollars to drive to the dealership... oh and I like the Lariat pinstripe... when it is not pink or purple or yellow... silver and black would look mint on Huskers SuperCrew... but at least if you decide to go after market you can decide on anything you wantand probably won't cost you 100 bucks either.
