Exclamation my 4X4 SCrew mileage

I drove to Tampa, Florida from the Atlanta area over this past weekend. I kept scrupulous records and have now computed my average gas mileage. Keep in mind, I have a 5.4L that has seen 13k miles with: superchip, WMS velocity tube, 3" cold air mod to stock airbox, Mobil 1 5W-30, premium gas, and K&N filter. Rear tires were pumped to 36 PSI, and front to 34 PSI. Also, I love to put my right foot down (it's an uncurable condition - when I get my Ravin exhaust it will just get worse ), I have a hard time letting toys and chevys by, I run between 75-80 highway, and I zoom from block to block city.

The bottom line: I never got the 17 mpg advertised by Ford on my sticker (14 city - 17 Hwy):

16.78 mpg is my average highway mpg

14.5 mpg is my city/commuting mpg.

I'll take it. At least premium is under $1.60/gal around here!

There is NO WAY anyone is getting over 17 MPG with a 4X4 SCrew, unless they have a hell of a tailwind! I call BS!

Cool

PS: I tend to keep the OD turned off all the time in city traffic and/or on roads with 45 MPH limits, and only use it when I can do at least 55. 17+ MPG? Forget it - maybe with a 4.6L or a 2x4.

While I don't have all the mods you've got (yet)....I can get 19mpg with regular unleaded if I set the cruise for just under 2K rpm. Maybe it's my snugtop....but I get a little over 14 average city and can get 19 highway. Come on by and I'll show you. BTW, Billy Howell is going to "try" to replace the radiator the week of 6/11 after I get back from vacation...thanks for the advice, we'll see if they come through.

Went north this weekend. Temps around 60..rain. Lots of traffic so speeds were around 65mph. I used 14 gallons to go 270 miles. Thats about 19 mpg. I actually used 14.3 which calculates to 18.88 mpg.

Say what you want....

I've duplicated these figures enough to know that they are true.
