Angry Good News/Bad News.....

Good news is my truck is finally in (ordered mid March). Bad news is.... well, you guessed it... I got the tow package and looked under the hood and wouldn't you know it..... the 1.02" radiator. Not only that, but the battery is only 65 amps and not the 78 as advertised in the package. This really pisses me off. I saw that a few folks were finally getting the right radiator upon delivery and was hoping I wouldn't be one of the stricken. Well, I am. The dealer is trying to wrap up the paperwork by the end of the month, but I won't take the truck unless they replace the battery and radiator or promise to do so in writing. Don't get me wrong, I love the truck and I waited a long time for it, but I'm not a schmuck; and I won't let Ford treat me like one.

On a couple other points... after a test drive of my new truck to be, I'm glad I got the 4.6L V8. It did me fine merging on and off of the 6 lane city beltway and has plenty of power for me... the non-motor head. Before I knew it, I was up to a comfortable 70 mph with my foot barely on the pedal.

Now for the Lariat stripe and 4 x 4 logo.... heck, I'm gonna back track on this one... I like 'em and I'm gonna keep 'em. The 4 x 4 is not too big to be obnoxious, and the stripe looked fine. What had turned me off was I think that I saw a custom job on another black S'Crew and the stripe looked more like a lasso. Now that was obnoxious.

Well, the service manager will get back to me tomorrow and we'll see where they want to go with this. I hope they do the right thing, but I'm ready to walk, and will if I have to.

From what I've been reading, since you got the small battery, you probably did not get the hi-output alternator either. And if you didn't get those things, you probably didn't get the HD shocks. I'd be checking all these items out real close.

Can someone please fill me in on what package you all are talking about? I got the trailer (class III) I believe on mine. Is this the one people are having trouble with?

Question

I was looking at the Ford brochure that gives details about the F150 trucks. The info on the Class III Trailer Towing Group says that the Heavy-Duty Electrical/Cooling Group should be included within this package. If you look at the Heavy-Duty Electrical/Cooling Group description, there is a footnote of (1) on it which down at the bottom of the page states that it is not available with the Supercrew. What does that mean??? If the Heavy-Duty Electrical/Cooling Group is not available with the Supercrew, then what is available since the Class III Trailer Towing Group states that this should be part of this upgrade? The Heavy-Duty Electrical/Cooling Group consists of the 72 amp-hr. battery; super engine cooling; auxiliary automatic transmission oil cooler (required when towing over 4000 pounds). Is Ford not putting any of this equipment on the Supercrews?
