Talking New Screw owner!! (with a question of course)

Just picked up my new Screw last night. I'm already wanting to change the exhaust and have heard good things about the Ravin system. I tried the sound files on the website but the ones for the fords didn't work. Does anyone know how well this sounds or maybe have a sound file? I want something fairly loud.

If you want something fairly loud, go with the ravin z33. That is what I am getting. I actually heard this set up on a Screw from a fellow member of this board. I met him for lunch one day to hear his set up. Awesome!! Were are you located? If local, I'm sure you can meet up with Adam like I did. If not, maybe he can get you a recording of his. His login id is adamski
Where are you Adam?

ps--Congrats on the new truck!! The mod bug did not take long on you, did it?

I think the gibson supertruck is an excellent choice. I've had mine for almost a year and its deep throaty growl is a head turner, looks are excellent also.

I had a Ravin Z55 installed last week and love it!! Idling - you can't hear it. Put the pedal on the floor and it roars!! Reminds me of a Mustang GT. I put over 100 miles a day on my truck and spend a lot of time on the phone (with hands-free of course) and had to have something that I could still hear the phone while driving, but when I want to draw attention to my truck, I can!!

I just had the Ravin Z55 system put on a few weeks ago too. I am really happy with it so far, however if you're looking for something a little louder, definately go with the Z33.

As said before, with the Z55 it's hardly louder than stock at idle, and comes to life with throttle - a nice, deep, rumble. Not poppy or gurgly...like a refined brute that the SCrew is.

I have one question though....has anyone painted the pipes from the muffler back? I was thinking of doing this but curious about what kind of paint to use. Obviously some form of High heat resistant paint...

My system from Midas was the Z55 muffler, the supposed 'black in back' pipes (which weren't actually black, may have been screwed) and vp1311 tips from ravin. total was a boat-load of $$...like $600

I probably could've looked around more, or driven to MI or WI and found a smaller Midas dealer to get a better price. All in All I'm happy with it tho.

I'm having the Ravin Z-33 installed as I'm typing this. I will be picking it up in about an hour. I got the dual outlets and have them exiting behind the rear tires angled so the slash tips exit clean with the body line. I wanted to try this just to be different. Now I can't decide to lift or not to lift.

ImScrewed,
You're not the only one - I had my Z55 set up the same way. I think you will like it. I was tired of seeing all the trucks with the double-barrel shotgun out the rear, so I also opted with the angled exit out each side. That way people hear you on both sides!!!!

braboin: I painted my stock tailpipe last month. Was cleaning out the garage of the house I just sold and found a can of black barbeque grill paint. On an impulse, really, I shook it up and sprayed the tailpipe. It looks better than it did before, has a medium gloss finish, and is holding up well.

I'm thinking about a Z-55 too. What did you pay for yours?

Well I picked up my truck yesterday and was very happy with my purchase. The truck sounds good but not too loud. It has a nice low rumble, but at cruising speed on the highway its not noticeable. I personally can't tell much of a hp difference if any but I was just worried about it sounding good. Which now it does. I'm still on my first tank of gas so I don't know if it helped fuel mileage or not.

Oh one more thing. The guy at Midas that did my installation painted the pipe from the muffler all the way to the tips. He used high temp paint (in black of course). It looks great. The total out the door was $401.76

Yet another vote for the Ravin Z-55's. Have had mine for over a month and still love them. Dual with 3" chrome tips out the rear. $349 installed.

They suggested spraying header paint down the inside of the pipe. Bought the paint but haven't used it yet.
