Mercury insurance sucks
I was rear ended on 4/14/01 by an insured of Mercury insurance. They still have not paid my claim out. It has almost been a month now and I am really pissed off.
I was rear ended sitting at a light, how much easir can it be. It even states that she told the officer she was digging in her purse and didn't see traffic stopped. The report goes on to say she was at fault. i want my truck fixed and haven't been able to show off my 20's yet because of this.
What should I do? Since the truck isn't driveable due to rear damage to bumper shouldn't I be reimbursed for not being able to be with my baby? Just venting guys. thanks

The law in Va. says you are due rental of a comparable vehicle. In other words you should have had a pickup rental since your s crew was not operable. Usually, if the vehicle will not pass state inspection (if it exists in your state) then the vehicle is deemed not drivable. Not sure about where you are. Insurance companies drag out paying claims to manage cash flow and investment returns. You need to start calling the claims office every day and document to whom you are speaking.
Also, you should not have to wait to get your truck fixed. Since you are a claimant, the check will probably go directly to you, but the adjuster should have determined the damage by now. A good shop should be able to turn around a non-frame damage vehicle in a week. The parts for these are not rare, to my knowledge.
BTW, in VA if the insurance company does not pay for a comparable vehicle, the fine can be up to 3 times the amount they should have paid. You may want to research your state law and bring this up to the Mercury claim office.

They have not given me a rental nor offered one. I have requested one several times but no luck yet. The adjuster has viewed it andI have a body shop estimate for around $3000. They are just stalling. I am going to try to get loss off use since i haven't been able to use it for a month now. It sucked to send off that 500 truck payment for a month of it in the garage. thanks for the info. I am not going to get a geo rental. I want something simular to my s crew.

Wait til you take it to the body shop and they tell you it'll take two weeks and it ends up being 4 weeks or more. Don't know of a single person who's had collision repair done lately who's gotten their car back in anything approaching a timely manor.
Good luck!
Good luck!
