Question kkirt1 ?'s

How are you? I hope all is well.
I have a few question's if you don't mind me asking.
1.I'm thinking of switching my gibson ss exhaust to flowmaster 50 delta si/do the back.I wondered how you liked the sound & if you would do the same thing over or go with a 40 delta ? I don't want an obnoxious sound
just a nice rumble when I get on it & a little at idle.(no int. droan either).
2.what size pipe's are you running with & any low end loss ? I'm thinking of running 2.5" dual pipe's out the back with 3.5" slash tip's.
Thank you for you input / help
Mike

Fallscrew, sorry to change the subject, but I would like to know where you bought those weathertec window visors from at such a good price. I'm really interrested in buying a set for my screw. Thanks

Cool

JCWhitney sell the set of four for $79.95. I don't know of any other place that offers them cheaper.

I like the Flowmaster 50 DF but I would probably have gone with the 40 DF if I had to do it all over again. The 50 just isn't loud enough. At idle it is tough to hear anything inside the cab - it does sound good when standing behind the truck though!
While driving around there is also no noticeable sound inside the truck. This is good and bad. Good there is no droan, none at all, but bad that you don't hear that sweet sounding V8 rumble!

To my surprise the shop put 2 1/4" pipes from the muffler back. At first I was ready to rip them a new one but after driving it and reading some posts about low-end torque loss I think it was the right way to go. The truck has good low-end torque from the factory and it seems to have retained it with the new exhaust. As far as performance increases or mileage benefits - I haven't felt or noted any. Not to say they aren't there but it takes a lot to move this 4,000+lb beast! A couple ponies here are there really can't make that much difference.

My recomendation is to work with a shop you can trust and that has been recommended. If you end up really not liking your decision they may be willing to trade you up or down without eating the full cost of the muffler.

Good luck!

P.S. I would also love to hear about where you got the Weathertech's. I have heard a lot of good things about them.

Cool

I know that your question was directed to kkirt but, I have been running the FM 50 non delta series w/ 2.5" pipes. They were quiet at first but have gotten a little louder. They are nice when you get on it and quiet out when the truck hits 2nd - 3rd gear. keep in mind my mom rides in my screw all the time and she has not complained. I drive the highway every day 70-75mph and you can't hear them over road noise. I have been getting 14mpg since going to the exhust, tonneau & K&N filter kit.

I bought the weathertec's at a place in Waukesha Wi. called Cap Connection (262-524-8420).I must admit I made an error in telling you about the pricing on them though.
I pulled out the receipt when I got home just to double check my number's & it is as follow's $59.95 on 2-21-01.I'm sorry about misleading you all about the $49.95 price I think that's what I paid for the ventvisor's brand which I originally had but never installed because of the tape issue.I think the weathertec's are well worth the money they look like they are part of the truck.
kkirt1,
As for the exhaust situation I'm not sure what to do as of right now until I go talk to the muffler guy.(40 or 50 df ???)I'll keep you posted.
Russel,
I hope the info on the weathertec's help's give them a call since your not to far away.
Do you or anyone you know want to buy a set of factory takeoff tire's from my screw.
Goodyear wrangler rt/s 265/70/17 with less than 250 mile's ? I want $400.00 E mail me at mjreszka@milwpc.com if you know anyone.
Thank's again for the advise.
Mike
