Stock SuperScrew exhaust question??
I have a 01 F150 HD. I was nosing around underneath yesterday and noticed that the truck is 66% of the way to having a true dual setup. The tail pipes from the muffler back are dual, and it has dual cats, actually 2 for each bank of cylinders, 4 total. The o2 sensors are right aft of the cats then it Y's together just before the SI/DO muffler. It would be very easy to cut the crossover just before the Y, cut the Y out, and feed duals straight back to a DI/DO Magnaflow or something. My question is, is that the way all SuperCrews are? If so I can't believe I haven't heard more of converting to true duals. Is there a reason not to? This may be unique to the HD though. Don't know for sure.

All of the '97+ F-150/Expy/Navigator trucks (at least the V8 ones) have the dual cat setup with the Y-pipe after the cats and O2 sensors. Yours is unique that it came with the DO muffler from the factory.
As long as you don't touch the pipes before that last O2 sensor making the system a true dual is legal (even here in CA). Some people have worried about a loss of torque but as long as you size the pipes proplerly that won't be a problem (i.e. use 2.25" or 2.5" pipes on a dual system, not 3"). Also, a crossover pipe will make the system sound better and give you better performance.
