Painless Radiator Experience
I have posted my good experince with Hayward Ford once before. Well they not only came through with their radiator swap, they checked every part of the tow package from the shocks to the alternator. I mentioned the radiator issue to a guy at work, and he took his SCrew down and got an apology, and an appointment to swap his out. They promise to make it right and they do! If you live anywhere near the San Francisco are, buy your truck from Hayward Ford.
Excellent, now I've got a place to get mine serviced when I go home!
BTW, my dealer out here, after following up with Ford, has now agreed to replace my radiator. They were very friendly & helpful about it, just slow at getting it approved. Phil Marino (GM) and Mike Sullivan (Service Mgr.) at AutoFair Ford in Manchester, NH are good people. (They'll also sell you a truck for a great price on the web.)
For those of you who did not see this in the Engines thread, I am still following up on this with Ford - the fact that I got mine replaced does not mean that I will let it drop for those of you who were denied. I will post more info as soon as I can, this is a delicate process, but rest assured that if your dealer said no, this is not the end of it if I have any say in the matter, and work continues.

Sergio,
Thanks to your post a couple of weeks ago, I also went to Hayward Ford where I bought my truch this past November and spoke to their QA Mgr Mr. Moore who acknowledged the problem, checked my truck's vin #, and ordered my new radiator. My purchasing experience was no haggle and very painless, but I am also impressed w/ their service. The new rad should be here in a couple of weeks. He even said that your truck was already being worked on the day I was there Friday. Thanks again...

I am glad to hear you received the same service. I think it's so odd how people get different treatment from different dealers.

that's good news. Frontier Ford in Santa Clara is where I bought my truck and they are installing the bigger radiator today. i have been pretty pleased with how they handled things. i am very curious about the other components of the tow package though... anyone know for sure if we're getting what we're supposed to?
thanks,
Wes

I may be in the same boat as the rest of you. I picked up my S-Crew on March 8th 2001, and I too ordered the tow package with the heavyduty radiator and shocks. My question is how do I check to see what size radiator I have on my truck?

The short version of the long story is this(after 3 weeks of agravation). Don't waste your time with the Ford Customer care people, they are politically correct idiots. Go back to your dealer and show them the information in the Ford Source book. Within 5 minutes of doing so the correct 1.42" rad(YL3Z-8005-GA) was ordered and installed within a week. If you are in Eastern Ontario contact Brian Turner(Service Manager), Hudson Ford, Brockville, Ont at 613-341-FORD. He knows of the problem NOW and should fix you up without any hassle. I'm sure he will know who gave you the heads up!

Mr. Moore put the alternator on a "scope" to see the output. The amp rating is 130. If you lift your truck, you can measure to piston in the gas shock. The standard is 1.19 inches, and the package is 1.38. Your battery is larger also.

I work in an auto parts store and this is new info to me. As I understand it you guys got the wrong radiator in your trucks but what years, models, and truck varaitions does this affect(ie: is it only in the screw trucks and I take that it is only the trucks with the towing package. We have a large Ford following in my town and this could be some interesting news to alot of people.
