...or should I get a new shaft?

Truck will be one year old (day I sat in it) on 19 Apr. I've noticed the driveshaft and rear axle are rusted. Almost looks like you pulled it off an oolldd truck. Anyone else have the same problem.

Also noticed on the rear pumpkin the letters R/S written in gease pencil. Any ideas?

As far as I know they are all doing that. Metal within the shaft I guess. Normal, btw I wouldn't try to paint it as that might ruin the balance of the shaft.

 

Its not a problem. Steel does that if it doesnt have a protective coating on it.
You could paint them but you would have to do a good job and have the balance of the shaft checked. It doesnt take much off balanceness to make it vibrate at high rpms. Many show vehicles have the drivetrain painted so its no big deal all and all.
As for the grease pencil its probably nothing. I dont know how it didnt wear off after a year of driveing around.

 

Mine is aluminum as far as the rear axle goes its painted purdy well think it will take a few years before it starts to rust Gen 3
watch your frame tho it isn`t very heavy gauge i`ll tell ya
