Post Help with Ravin Z-55 on SCREW

I took my new SCREW to Midas to install a Ravin-Z55 with the existing pipes. I know several of you have already done this on your SCREW with good results.

Unfortunately, Midas had ordered the wrong Z55 for my truck- they ordered one for a 2000 F-150 Supercab.... ARGH!!! Their Ravin book did not list the 2001 SCREW so now I need your help-- does anyone know the correct Ravin Z-55 part number for the SCREW?

Also, they thought it would require extensive modifications, hangers and clamps after looking at my SCREW. I know, I know- take it somewhere else? Of the three Midas shops within a reasonable distance, this was the ONLY one who knew what a Ravin was and claims to have installed them before. So what's the scoop- are serious modifications required? Will Ravin installation void the Ford warranty? Thanks for the help,
Rich

You should check out www.sema.org on warrenty issues. Any dealer who denies you warrenty on your truck because of the exuast system is being unlawfull. You would replace that eventually anyway. Also only the replaced part is no longer under warrenty. They would have to prove your part led to the problem so it would be difficult to show a catback broke the power windows or cracked a piston etc. It has very usefull info on there. On the other hand if you go in with a nitros bottle in the back and complain about blown engine , thats a different story

Midas had quoted a price of $111.95 plus $10 labor for the SI/SO Ravin Z-55. At least they didn't cut up my stock pipes before they realized their SCREW-up.

Wow, am I getting ripped off for the SI/DO then? They told me about $350 new from the Y. Sounded expensive, but most of the performance exhaust are.

Thanks big_bad_supercrew,
That makes me feel better. This price included 3.5" chrome tips.

Hey, noticed on your future mods that you mentioned 305 BFG AT's... don't think they make them. I looked because that's what I really wanted to go with. If you find them, let me know!!

lakefisher,

your not gettin ripped off. rfr164 is getting just the muffler. your getting a whole system. midas quoted $450 in my area.

what sent me elsewhere was ravins only come with a 90 day warranty and the midas shops were less than welcoming.

Thanks Kenny,
I tried to decide between the Ravin and Gibson split-rear, but from what I've read I decided on the Ravins. The shop has been very nice, but we'll see about the install. Part is supposed to be in tomorrow so hopefully I'll know soon. What do you think of your exhaust now?

Lakefisher-
Midas also quoted me $400 for the Ravin Z-55 SI/DO with pipes and tips so your price is fair.

Now, have you had the Ravin Z-55 installed yet? I am still seeking the SCREW part number for the Z-55... Thanks,
Rich

Yep, installed this afternoon. Great deep throaty sound when you give it the slightest bit of gas. Fairly quiet at idle though, atleast in the cab with the window down. I'm sure behind it you'll hear it a little.

RFR164
Here are the part numbers from my installation... I assume they are correct.
Ravin Z-55 Muffler: RA554306 $116.95
Custom Pipe: CP $ 19.95
Tail Pipes: T6515 & T6516 $ 50.95 each
3"x24" Chrome Tips: Y0752 $ 26.50 each
2 Hangers: F1771 $ 8.95 each
2 Hangers: F2150 $ 4.95 each
Labor: $ 30.00

Total: $349.60 +tax

They told me the muffler had a 2 year warranty and 1 year on the pipes.

Lakefisher,
EXCELLENT and thanks for all the info, much appreciated!! Now you've got me thinking about duplicating your setup with the pipes- sounds awesome. Considering all of the other mods I've done in the past two weeks, whats another $200? LOL

At a very minimum, I can get the Ohio Midas folks on track with the correct part numbers now!

If you don't go with the dual out, then that won't be the correct part number for the muffler. It's a 3" single in with 2 3" outs. If you stick to the single, you probably want the RA554301. Or, if you're not using 3" pipes, they have mufflers for the smaller size too.
