Killer Low and Wide SCrews
Hello all...
For those of you thinking of lowering your SCrew, It would look damm nice!
I just came from my local "Future Ford" dealer, here in Sac.
And they had several.
One was black and beautiful, 275/45/18, all around. Also what appeared to be a 3-4" drop...
Also, they had another,"ROUSH" model SCrew 4x4. It was neither raised, or lowered.
But it did have 285/60/18 Toyo's and Roush wheels...Once again, looked killer.
As a matter of fact, I was leaning towards lowering my 4x4 SCrew a little..
Perhaps now I will just modify the suspension, or upgrade it, and slap the 285/60/18's (which by the way, comes within a 1/4" of OEM height, therefore no Speedo change.)
I just might drive by again and take some Pic's , if anyone wants to see them?
Late....

maybe i'm just weird, but i think screws (and a lot of other trucks) look kinda strange when lowered... just doesn't look natural to me for some reason i guess? to each his own

yes, future ford has some nice trucks. to bad they suck.
i had a truck ordered when you could only find 1 or 2 on the lots. traveled all the dealers in sac, davis, vacaville and fairfield. all but one had their trucks priced 3,000 - 5,000 over msrp. green valley ford, fairfield had them 3,000 under msrp. if you ordered from them, hope you had better luck.
advantage...green valley ford

Yeah, I have the day off tommorrow...
I swing by with digital sony and take some pics...
Python:
I saw your pics on the F-150 world,
If I'm not mistaken, I even told you that your ride inspired me to do the same...
PS do you think your rear sway bar will fir a 4x4 SCrew?
Pesos:I agree with RickC... your just wierd!
No really I like them both ways...My Surburban has a 3" lift, with 35" all around...
On the other hand, I have never owned a lowered truck? Always have wanted to though...So perhaps now my chance.
And yes Kenny: they do suck..
In fact let me tell you a short...
When "my" salesman came out to "greet" me, (ie...tried to milk as much info from me to use against me..."how much do you make", "how much do you owe...what kind of payments can you afford...)
I knew right there I did not like him...Well it got worse...so I decided to play along...I started to ask him simple generic questions
pertaining to My SCrew...he started to hem and haw...but not really answering my questions. finally he answered one about the engine...whether it was a 4.6 ?? or 5.4 by responding that it doesnt really matter!
I said "WHAT"...then I said,"if you don't know just say so...I swear, he just started walking away back to his roost!
what an jerk. To make matters worse, I went back up to the sales office, asked for a manager...did my "edmonds.com" magic on him.
knocking it down from $36,500 sticker...right!
to $29,300...here's the worst part, He asked who was "my salesman". I told him that he could just have the sale. He said no there was someone already helping me, and that "he" would get the credit, and would have to "close the deal" I told him what just went down in the parking lot...
Well to make a long story short...the guy had to eat major crow...He was trying to be apologetic and sincere, in telling me that customer service was their number one concern...Yeah right...
what an ***.
I swear this next part is true as well.
I was there a couple of days ago, to see the lowered beauties. Actually I was there to scope on the 2001 chrome lightinings wheels for $325.00ea.
There was a salesman and a guy there who had just closed a deal on a SCrew...as we all were admiring the wheels they asked me about my SCrew and my Deal...Well I related the above story... I told the "new" salesman that I forgot his name, but that he was of ------ decent with a heavy accent. (i don't want to make it racial). All I remember, I said...is that he was a major A-- ----.
No sooner then I got those words out, did he walk around the corner into our conversation... I don't think he put two and two together??
Or how about this one...I drove up around 4:10 pm one afternoon to get an Oil change...
I was ignored for about 10 minutes...
Then a service tech, asks "do you have an appointment"
"FOR AN OIL CHANGE" I said you are kidding...
NO...No no, he was not kidding, flat out refused to do the work... later reiterating that it was also too close to closing time...even if he decided to do "ME A FAVOR"
40 minutes till closing... what jerks...
Although donny in the Parts who sight unseen, knocked $65.00 off ea. wheel...COOL!

Not sure about the rear swaybar for your 4 x 4. You have a very nice screw...I dig the stering wheel cover and white gages. Can't wait to see the chrome lighting wheels...there badass. I would suggest ordering the locks for those babies...if you decide to get them..
Before the lighting came out...I knew I had to have one....They are the ultimate sport truck....Unfortanetly I could not sacrifice a single cab only. My only alternative was to build a four door version of my first love. It will never be a Lighting and by no means do I try to pass it off as one....I had to compramise between the two and I am happy with the results!

nodrive55,
i was going to spare the future ford details but sounds like we had the same guy. how the hell can you sell a vehicle if you know nothing about it. in my quest to see a wedgewood blue crew, and still scoping out the white ones, the salesman approached. told him i was just looking, had one already built and it was in transit.
his reply, what if you were to make us a crazy offer. o.k., i'll play your game i like the white one but it has a 4.6. his reply, that's just as good as the 5.4 if you get the 3.73 gears. flag...i let him know they don't come with 3.73's. so he finds one in back with a 5.4. but it had a couple options which were fine, but i wasn't willing to pay for since i stood before them with approved loan paperwork and order confirmation (outling options, price) in hand.
well they took 3 stabs at getting my business. first...they came back with payments $100 more a month than i would be paying in a week. hello, what about the crazy offer...can you beat what i got or not. second...$60 more. what don't you understand. at this point mr. 4.6 with the 3.73s are pointing out all the pretty girls and trying to tell me how he bed them down (idiot, any man on the verge of buying a screw could care less about a woman, the truck will last longer) third...payments were $40 less, but they added a year to the loan. at this point i told them, give me my paperwork back. why didn't you just tell me from the beginning you wouldn't beat the price and save us all the hassle. they went on to tell me about the extra options, and i reminded them, i made it clear from the beginning, if that's the truck they are offering then they'd suck up the extras. then it was a case of i wanted to drive home in it today, to which my reply was...no, you wanted me to make a crazy offer, i simply asked you give me the same final price and loan rate i had in hand.
they're jerks. over rated. and it shocks me to see trucks here in fairfiled with future ford temp. tags when green valley ford takes all the negotiating out of the process. 3,000 under msrp. a year ago, that was unheard of in this area.

OK, I understand how one could lower a Screw, but how do you go about widening one??!!
Python, if you don't mind me asking, about how much did your lowering and transformation into a "Lightning" Screw look-alike cost you? I'm interested in doing it, but I feel it will be cost prohibitive.

I thought hard first before I started the transformation.....Roughly I have about 6K into the truck, I can justify this cost because I got A - Plan pricing and paid 25K (Tax not included) for a loaded Lariet. The 6K is shopping around for the best deals on all the mods....
All things aside....I understand the cost prohibitive issues when puting cash into a vehicle...you never recoupe the dollars you spend but I can't live without modifications! We who put money into our vehilces do it with a understanding......Even if I paid list for my Screw....I still would make mods to it...but I would try to stay within reason.
