The note on the sticker warns the dealer not to service the trans if it fails before August 2001. It says to just use the "trade-in" program.

Does any body know what is special about the 4r70W in my 2001 SCREW?

The trans does "clunk" when down shifting at 14 MPH going up the hill to my house. I hear that's normal; other wise its working fine.

I've got (or had as the case may be) the sticker on my transmission. I've had a shudder while driving in traffic. Long story short, at 2,050 miles, getting a new, factory transmission (not rebuilt). Dealer says that Ford wants to look at what caused the failure, don't want the local techs to do repair. Guess we got the "test" trannys....

Isn't it great, that FORD can just throw test transmissions in production vehicles and have owners, who paid good money, be the guinea pigs, for their practice transmissions. All with no warning or no compensation to you, the owner.

It just means that if there is a problem with the tranny by that date the dealer should replace the tranny instead of trying to repair it. Ford can run checks on it that way and keep records of certain failures. I have it as well. It's a fine tranny and sometimes downshifts heavily and I just attribute it to being heavy duty. It works just great and I am happy with it. I look at the sticker as a positive because if there is a problem by the date we get a new tranny instead of a remanned one. No worries.

 

Ford is picking up my rental, so I at least have transportation while its in the shop. still, it kind of sucks, new truck, bad tranny......
