Thumbs down Nost so happy new owner

I bought a gen III Lariat 4x4-loaded, about 3 weeks ago. Thinking that a new pickup is a new pickup, I didn't give it a thorough going over before purchase. The windshield has a defect on the driver's side right where you look out and the fishbowl effect causes nausea after about an hour of driving. The dealer ordered a new windshield but it's been three weeks and I'm getting pissed.
The speedo/tach lense has a film of dirt on the inside surface that is impossible to clean, so the dealer ordered one of those also.
There is an extremely annoying noise that sounds exactly like a bad throwout bearing on a manual trans (I have an auto), but really only occurs in a high intake vaccuum situation. i.e. when letting off the gas after the engine is at an above idle RPM. I suspect that it is a vaccuum leak in the dash, but the service dept looked at it and said it is a "normal noise". Normal, if you're driving an old beater with 200k miles on it maybe, but I just paid over $30k for this fine outfit!
So far, this new Ford has alot of making up to do. I'd like to warn prospective buyers to go over the Ford pickup they're looking at with a fine-toothed comb and don't assume for a minute that when the dealer says "we'll take care of that" they actually will.

FORD'S BUILD QUALITY IS AWFUL!!!!!!

Like people have posted so many times on this board...all car companies make a bad one every now and then. Hopefully they will make it right for you. Take it to another dealer and have them evaluate the noise -or- test drive another Lariat with the same engine and see if it makes the same noise.

No problems with mine (so far ).

Been driving Ford trucks for 20 years...Not one problem. That being said, every brand has a lemon here and there. Ford's build quality and service, to me, is #1 and has been since my first truck 20 years ago. Owned my latest SCrew for a month now and not one problem at all! Sometimes I wonder if posts like yours are from jealous "other brand" owners ..LOL! Just a thought and forgive me if I'm wrong.

Actually, I live in Scottsbluff and yes I do have a new Supercrew. The funny thing is, I've owned more Ford pickups than Chevy's over my lifetime. I don't have any so-called brand loyalty, I buy what suits me at the time.
My new pickup isn't a complete disappointment, (obviously or I wouldn't have bought it), it is just annoying as hell to have these problems with an outfit that you've just bought brand new.

As far as brand loyalty goes, I watch with much amusement as guys put up with all sorts of troubles with a vehicle and even trade it off early to get rid of it and never admit that they had trouble with it... AND they stay with the same brand! I suspect Screwdriver is one of those types. Not to say he's having trouble with his current ride, I'd just guess that if he did, he'd never admit it-even to himself.

Voice of (some) experience here...

My first new car was a 1992 Mustang GT. Had a "hole" in the paint on the window pillar. Ford repainted the car 4 times, but the paint kept peeling off. Didn't buy another Ford for SEVEN years. My next Ford was a 1999 Cobra convertible. Sweet ride...terrible for family...kept it for 4 months before getting the Supercrew.
In-between I had a Toyota 4x4 ext cab (94 model)...loved the truck...hated the lack of power. Traded that off for a 96 Dodge Ram regular cab sport 4x4. LOVED IT. Would still have it, if it had more room in the cab. There have also been a few other cars thrown in the mix...96 Camry...97 Maxima...90? Prism...99 Jeep Grand Cherokee

So, you can see that there is really no owner loyalty here. I just love my SCrew.

(BTW, Ford bought back my 92 GT...and Jeep traded me out of my 99 Grand Cherokee...both lemons).

Cool

No offense, but I don't think the front mudflaps look good when they are designed for trucks with the running boards, but are used on trucks without running boards. I bought the Husky mud flaps through Cabela's Catalog, and I think they look much better than the Ford flaps. They seem to be a little wider also.
They still don't completely protect the area behind the rear tire, and I'm thinking of getting this clear adhesive backed plastic that is intended as a rock and chip guard. It is also now available through Cabela's.
Another guy with an extra 2 cents in his pocket...lol.
