Question Ready to buy?

I am almost ready to put my order to purchase a new SCREW. So far my order list reads as follows:
4.6L
4x2
side steps
towing package
6 pack cd
rear sliding window
limited slip
captains chairs (cloth)
Should I go with the 5.4L? Is there anything
I should add or remove?

Please advise?

Spoil yourself and get the power drivers seat for ultimate seating comfort. Unless you happen to be the exact size Ford has determined you should be when they installed the seat.

If you are going to spoil yourself, go ahead with the 5.4L. I love mine. My last truck had the 4.6L and I did not have any problems, but man I am verry hapy with the 5.4L

I had a similar build in a 98 sc. The 4.6 was
great. You are going to need that posi rear. I have the 5.4 in my screw only because I tow often, otherwise I would have ordered a 4.6 My.02 Cents. Make sure the dealer understands you want the correct super cooling radiator in you new ride. See the posts under " Wrong Radiator 2000/2001"
I found Edmunds.com very helpful in haggeling with the dealer.

Sounds like you are going to order your truck, not buy one off of the lot. If you do buy off the lot, realize there is a difference with GenI, GenII and GenIII versions of the SCrew. It can make a difference in the price you pay, and the seats that you get.

I have the 4.6L, 6 cd, captains chairs, and sliding rear window. All worth while options.

Good luck -

You might want to check this prior string on 4.6L engines:

https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/001524.html

It's important to keep in mind that at the end of last year, Ford increased the HP to 230 on the 4.6L F-150 engines, so older complaints may no longer be as valid. I gathered from the above cited discussion that the 5.4L engine was useful if you either needed to do some heavy duty towing, or wanted to "screech" tires. Since I wish to do neither, I went with the 4.6L.

Just wondering... being up in Canada, why not go with the 4X4?

Moon roof is a great "spoil me" option! 5.4L is a must (this is my opinion)..

Don't forget the wet bar option... (the coctail waitress is kinda cute too

I AM CANADIAN!!!

I purchased a Supercrew 4x4 (Gen I) with the 4.6L and would not trade it for a 5.4L....just my opinon only though!

I guess at first you always wonder if the decision you made was the right one...but after you drive this smaller V8 for awhile, your wondering disappears quickly...this 4.6L is great!

Truck pulls great(4500lbs), never a problem (knock on wood).

Besides if I wanted some real grunt power I would of purchased a V10 or PS.

Just me though!

I definitely support the newer 4.6L engine. I have it, and so far it has outperformed my expectations. Also get the moonroof, you'll love it. I just love having the option to cruise with it open during a gorgeous spring afternoon. Just remember to close it if it looks like rain. This is my first moonroof and have to keep reminding myself to close it.

Cool

ScrewDriver2001,

Way back a few years ago, 22 to be exact, it was fashionable at my high school to have a beverage dispenser in the front of the car, it was almost as good as a ****tail waitress.

What you would do is get a windshield washer nozzle, a windshield washer resivoir, a switch and some wire and an electric pump and some hose, all brand new, and install the nozzle in the dash, the resivoir in the trunk, hook it all up and yout get ScrewDrivers in the passenger compartment.

Oh Canada Eh.

I opted for the 5.4 simply because in my opinion it won't have to work as hard to do the same job, whether it be towing or just climbing some steep hills. Plus enviroment Canada's fuel economy tests show only a 2mpg. difference between the two engines(hwy.driving) Mine is a XLT 4x4 with the ORP and 17" wheels with 10 spoke. Went with the 60/40 split bench. All my other vehicles all had buckets and was originally tempted to repeat on this one until I drove one for the weekend. Love the bench. I also opted for the power drivers seat and the 6CD pack.
Went with factory steps for a few different personal reasons. We added an A.R.E. LS11 cap to complete the pkg. No other mods yet. Our baby is black clearcoat with the silver accent. This was the hardest decision of all to make(took forever)
Once we finally decided on base colour then there was the matter about whether to get the silver accent.(we did)
Bottom line, we simply love our truck.

Can you get the 17" wheels in a 4x2?

Ohcanada

I was told by several dealers(to my disappointment)that the only way to get the 17" wheels was to buy the Off Road Pkg. which is available only with 4x4. I really didn't want the ORP just the 17" wheels cause the 16" seem small on the truck. Why not get the 4X4? What part of the country are you in?

You can get the 17" wheels as an option for the XLT 4x2. It's standard with the Lariat 4x2.
