Post Financing a Crew

Hi guys,

I am planning on ordering a crew and financing it through Ford. Do I get the rate of at the time of the order? or at the time of the delivery. Or this is negotiable? One dealer I went to told me I would get whatever the rate at the time of the delivery. The current incentive ends 4/02, so I need to know fast!

TIA

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying, but I doubt if I can get a better rate than Fords 2.9% APR (my credit union is 7.75% and 7.35% from Eloan.com)
I have a pretty good credit, so I am pretty sure I can get Ford's 2.9% x36 if I apply.

Yes. Hopefully that's true. However, that great rate is often linked with a huge "But"; "But only if you buy model X"; "but only if you're first time buying"; "buy only if you have A-positive blood" etc etc. Also, "dealer participation may affect" this. If you get a great price from them, they may not extend you the great financing too, since that is a cost the dealer helps bear (usually). Whatever the outcome, I sure wish you luck getting JUST the truck you want!

We bought on the X plan and got $500 rebate plus 2.9% financing as well. Most special deals are for a certain model.

Thumbs up

I paid 9 bucks over invoice and got the 2.9 % x 36 mnths...With average rates at the banks nearly 8%, you'd be a fool not to take advantage of Fords incentive. I bet after April 1, they will have another plan similar...

I hope they continue the 2.9% incentive since my SCrew is due in the week of April 9. Be a bummer to miss it by a week, or a day. I can only hope the current slow sales will keep the incentives alive.

Now that I'm down to the last days before delivery, the wait is killing me. Also, my '90 Cherokee head gasket oil leak isn't getting any better!

it's whatever the rate Ford is offering at the time you take delivery. can't really negotiate lower APR because rate is already below market due to the factory's subsidy. with full size truck sales being off for all the manufacturers, the current incentives from Ford will probably continue past 4/02 (my .02)

I'm pretty sure you'll get whatever rate is available at the time of delivery.....This is almost always the case with financing incentives....Sometimes with rebates you can hold the dealers' feet to the fire and get them to give it to you after it's expired if it was in effect when you ordered the truck....Of course, the amount comes out of their pockets...But financing is almost always a factory incentive and you won't be able to get it if it's not in effect....Ford generally rolls out a new program as soon as the old one expires so you might even get a better deal @ delivery...Good luck !

Assuming you have good credit, and you have reached the stage of the game where you are ready to buy, consider this:
Shop around locally and prequalify on a rate. Have this available for you.....ready to go.....as if you will actually finance thru the bank (or credit union!) of your choice. This should not cost you anything at all.
Then, after you've finished negotiations at the dealer on your new toy and head to the financing office, let them know you've already got financing (You do, don't you?)Undoubtedly, they'll ask what kind of rate you're getting. In EVERY case (with me, anyway) the dealer has managed to find a way to beat my "outside" deal, and usually by at least a half-point. I've always been satisfied with this tactic. I shop around for a great rate.....and get one. Then the dealer makes a better offer! Everyone wins.
