forget St. Patty's day, this was MOD DAY!!!
got my Gibson sweptside welded this morning at 10.
put the airforce 1 on right after.
then threw on the 2001 L taillights.
then cruised over to Campway and picked up the bedrug.
it looks and feels like a totally different truck! i love it!
pics up at http://www.weslazara.com (still need to get a side shot of the new taillights)
the best part of all was that the guy with the Dakota quad cab at Campway's couldn't take his eyes off my screw :-)

SOUND'S LIKE A GREAT DAY!!
Tell me about the lighting tail's .
Did you get them at your local dealer ?
How much were they?
Is this just a direct len's swap for the install or did you have to change wiring /bulb's ect...??
I was also thinking of doing a lightning grill mod.Who know's until I check into price's.

it was a great day
i didn't get them at the local dealer... i could have but i happened to order them from www.fordpartsonline.com
talk to Gary, he's a great guy. the parts are backordered however, so it might take a while. i think it took me three weeks or so to get mine, can't remember exactly.
they were just over $30/each, but i think Ford is starting to charge a surcharge on them now. Gary can give you more info on that.
anyways, the install is SO easy. the only reason i didn't do it at home is that i don't have the tool to unscrew the bolts.
so since i was getting the exhaust done near my dealership i dropped by to see if i could use their tools.
open the tailgate, remove two bolts per taillight, and remove the factory lights. unhook the two harnesses, and hook them right into the lightning parts. rescrew the bolts and you're done. no fancy bulbs or wiring to take care of.
they look great! i will try to get some side pics tomorrow, the one i took today didn't come out for some reason.
let me know the price on the grill, i was thinking about that too. i ordered the lightning headlights, corners, and third lamp the day I received the taillights. the headlights should be here monday. not sure when the corners/3rd lamp will arrive. i'll post pics again when i get them all on.

Wes good looking truck there man. like the mods. Question, when I put on my airforce 1 I installed the mass airflow so the plug and wires are on the bottom. You can see what I mean on my photos. There is link below. Did I not read the instructions closely enough, do they say to mount the wires and plug up top? Keep the pics of your mods comming. Take care,

What do the lightening headlights look like? From what I can tell in a photo the only difference is the side marker lights are white instead of Orange. Anything else different????

hi guys,
Wingnut - the bedrug cost $387 installed, got it at Campway's in Mountain View, CA. I think you can get it some places for more like $315, which i should have done and just installed it myself, as i ended up redoing a lot of the crappy job the installers did to smooth out some bumps. the thing is DAMN comfortable, my girlfriend and I drove it up into the mountains tonight to hang out and it is very nice.
SPEAKING OF DOING IT YOURSELF!!!!!
I had the guy at the exhaust place help me do the FIPK just to make sure i was doing it right, and it looks as if he didn't tighten one of the bands enough, and as i pulled into my driveway tonight, the service engine light came on. I opened the hood and the filter had popped off the end of the tube!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, i was so pissed. I got out my tools and retightened everything to make sure there weren't any other problems. MAN. from now on i'll remember if you want it done right, do it yo damn self.
HArley Supercrew - I'm not sure about the orientation of the wires, think it will make a difference? shouldn't be hard to flip them around if you think I should have them facing down...
VeryBlueScrew - the L headlights are clear, with a round face that gives them a very clean look. the corners are also clear, with a yellow strip accross the bottom to make them legal. they basically complement the clear headlights. the third lamp from the L is almost all black, looks very slick.

Wes I also had the filter slipping off. I found that the plastic mass airflow pipe and the inside of the filter that were to grip onto each other were very oily from the pre oiled filter. I cleaned both then put a strip of racing tape around the plastic pipe that the filter slides on to (the tape is not as slippery as the plastic, even when the plastic was dry)and tightened it back down. Hope that stops if from sliding off. This may be what is happening to yours. If so it will come off again so watch it and maybe try this. as to the plug in wires on the mass airflow, I would rotate it downward if it was me only for looks if for nothing else. Enjoy your beautiful truck!

Hey Harleysupercrew, I see that you have a flip chip! What exactly does it do as far as performance, 87 octane or 92, who made it, who sells it, how much-o.
thx

HarleySupercrew,
thanks for the tip! I have been driving around since last night with the radio off listening intently for any problems =)
I will definitely go with the tape method and I agree about turning the wires down =)

Hi XTRUKY. The chip is from Superchips got it from Mike Troyer at performance products 540-862-9515. Check out the other discussions on this lists re chips. I got the flip chip to leave open options in terms of being able to run regular gas. I have not switched off of the program that requires premium gas yet. A friend told me he bet's I never will and he may be right, we shall see. Hope this answers your questions.

i can definitely feel a difference after getting the gibson and airforce 1 in there... noise is just what i wanted from the two -- deep throaty v8 sound, but no cabin drone at speed.
i have heard that the sweptside gives its power gains at the low end, which is good for towing I believe. hope so, since I may be towing my friend's boat here and there =)
also, people over in the exhaust forum can probably give much better answers than me =)
