Wink CD Player (DEFECTIVE)

If no one is aware of this yet...the F-150's are having a problem with the factory CD players overheating. This is due to the heating ducts being routed to close behind the CD player and when the heater is turned on (Canadian winters eh)the heat from the ducts throws excess heat at the CD player and you get a message saying "CD HOT".

Took it into my Ford dealer last weekend and they said that I was one of hundreds of people with the same problem. They ordered me the upgraded CD player with a built in fan...under warranty of course!

So if your having problems with the Ford CD player over heating...call up your Ford dealer and let them know that you want the upgraded CD Player.

This is great....I have the HD radiator (1.42) and upgraded CD player(W/Fan), all coming in at one time.

My Ford Dearler is amazing!

Mine got pretty hot during my last long trip. It hasn't said "CD hot" yet, though. Keep us posted on your new player when you get it. I'm wondering if "upgraded" means anything more than an add-on fan or is the power of the amp also "upgraded"? Is so, my player says "CD hot" all the time.

Ordered mine with the CD changer, I believe the head unit just has am/fm cassette. Not sure as I have not really seen the actual system. I guess that would be different than what you guys are talking about, right?

Yes lrutt, the 6CD changer head unit has just the cassette with cd controls on it..I love the new feature of compression built into the head unit. It gives a much needed boost and overall balance to CDs being played. Sounds great for a stock player! And if you have captians chairs (which you will in the harley), the changer
is in the middle console. Very easy to access and use and no worries with over heating. Enjoy!

The new upgraded CD player that Ford has on order for me is a "complete" NEW bigger and better CD player. My current factory CD player is the single player only and not the 6 packer....I will keep you all posted!

Cool

Hey Hey, another husker

Yep, it is a nice area to live in, but I also envy you being able to ride the bikes all year round. I'm a motorcyclist too. Own a ZX10 KAW and old '77 KZ900 KAW...Want to get a harley, about a year wait on the new ones. And screw owners thought they had a long time to wait. LOL! Nice assortment of bikes you have there.

Hey, Screwdriver2001, fellow CornHusker. I lived in Nebraska many years (30). Hastings and that area to be exact. My kids live in Lincoln. Great country. But being able to ride my motorcycles year round down here is the only way to go.
