Offroad tires
Anyone installed BF goodrich mud terrains or something eqivilent?? I am wondering how much it hurts the ride and how much noise they produce at highway speeds? Also Gas milage is something im worried about. I only get about 14MPG now and I don't want it dropping much more.
I put Big O all terrain XT's on my truck the day I picked it up. (265/75's on 16" wheels). They are a tad more aggressive than the BFG. My mileage is 12 mpg 4-wheeling and around my hilly town; 15.2 mpg on the highway. They do have a little noise, but after 3,000 miles, its either gotten lower, I've gotten used to it, or I'm playing my new stereo system louder! They eliminated some of the "spongy" feel of the stock tires, but the suspension is so good that the truck rides great.
I love the tires though, great in mud and no spinning. A foot of snow didn't seem to be a problem either, except that I had no experience driving in it and was on a cliff! Haven't had them in deep sand yet.

Hello VeryBlue, I am also thinking about getting some aggressive tires for my SCrew such as the BFG MTs, however I have decided to stick with a AT instead of MT because I do quite a bit of city driving and I would wear out the MTs too fast. I am thinking about 265/70/17 BFG ATs tires, however they are about $175 ea. I am also considering Bridgestone Dueler ATs or possibly MTs. Let me know what you decide to go with.

Hey Fordboy, i noticed that you were thinking about the Bridgestone Duelers. A friend of mine had those on his tahoe and they were not that good. they were very noisy and didn't provide that well of traction off-road. I have a set of 33in BFG AT KOs, and they are AWESOME, quite on the road, great offroad traction for an AT and get great tread life. This is the tire I would go with in your situation.
Ditto the above comment about the bfg at's. I had them on my 98 jeep wrangler with a 4inch lift and 33's and they were the best all around tire not the best in the mud, but for most everything else they were superior. I had to give up my jeep to get the supercrew but if I were looking for an all around tire that would be it.
For a great mud tire the new goodyear MTR is probably what I would be spending my money on.
I used to wheel a lot with the jeep and the MTR was a great tire from what I saw.
My 2 cents.

The BFG AT's are a great all around tire. I think the ride improved with the stiffer sidewalls and the noise is not a problem at all. I have had them in the mud and they did the job.
