Red face This is one big mother!

Well, I just finished my first major detail and wax job to my new SCREW. I did it all by hand ...washing, drying, polishing and waxing and I can tell you this is one big mother of a truck.

I started at about 11:30 am and got done at 5:30 pm and I think my arm is going to fall off. I used all Meguiars product and the shine is unbelievable!!!...three times better looking than when I first picked it up from the dealer! And by the helpful hints that I read on these boards, I achived it all with no swirls or streaks or scratches what so ever..Thanks to all for your recomendations on products and techniques that you use...This site is incredible!

For washing I use Meguires Soft Gel Wash...
For polishing I used Meguires Mirror Glaze #7
For Waxing I used Meguires Gold Class ( applied wax with application pad and Mequires Quick Detailer sprayed on the pad first...works great for easy/even spread of wax, also let it dry 1 hour...)
For trim/wheels/interior I used Mequires Natural Shine
For Drying, and polish and wax removal I used 100% terry cloth white bath towels.

Yep, a lot of work but this truck is worth it! Now I'm going to have to take some new pictures before this thing gets dirty again..LOL! The pic in my sig is old one...

Cool

ScrewDriver2001,

I can relate!!!!! My wife and I just went from a 98 Mustang to the Screw... HUGE difference in detail time, but also a HUGE difference in the vehicles!
Our Mustang was black, and I know how hard it is to keep a black vehicle looking good! You've got a helluva nice truck there! I had such a hard time with the Mustang looking dirty every 48 hours, I got my Screw in Oxford White LOL I can go seven whole days without washing! It's a good thing too becuase I need the rest afterwards )

Thanks for the recomendations for your detail chemicals, I'll be sure to use the quick detailer on the wax applicator... great idea! A question about the Natural Shine.... is this an armor-all type of dressing? I always hated the greasy feeling of "tire dressing" on the interior parts. I'm guessing by the name "Natural Shine" the McGuires won't feel like suntan lotion LOL

P.S. If it makes you feel better, I spent the entire day cutting down trees (

James

Actually the Meguires Natural Shine vinyl & rubber protectant is the exact opposite of armor all. It doesn't leave that greasy feeling at all. I used very little of it on my dash since its still pretty clean. I also used it on my plastic trim to get the wax off that got on and it takes it right off. Works great on the tires too. Here is a link to read about it... Meguires Natural Shine
