5.4 Cold Engine Knock
I recently purchased a new 2001 Lariat Screw 5.4 4x4. My concern is a cold engine knock in the morning. It lasts about 5 minutes or so then quiets. The engine seems loud in the cab. Should I be concerned? I also noticed a clunk in the drive train when accelerating around a corner from a stop. Last but not least, the exhaust STINKS.. I have a 99 Expy with the same engine and it doesn't rattle.

I have had my truck just over two and haven't experienced any of those problems (knock on wood) ...Doesn't sound normal to me. Ask your service guy about it at your dealership. As for the exhuaust, I don't get any smell from mine other than normal exhaust fumes if its running and Im sucking on the tailpipe...LOL. 
I'd get it checked.
