Question What Tires to go With...

I will be needing to replace my tires here shortly, and I am trying to decide what to go with. I have the stock 17" rims. I want to go to a larger tire, but I do not want any rubbing problems. Are there any good 305's or 285's out there that will work? Looking for an AT or MT tire.

Thanks

Go with a Michelin. My dad has the LTX's on his z-71, they ride great. I'm picking up my crew on Friday, then going to have them put on.

I'm running BFG AT KO's 265/70/17 stock size but excellent tire's.

I've been looking into procomp at 33/12.50/17
so far this seem's to be the only one available for us with the 17 incher's.
BFG also has A 37/17 (to big for me though).
I've heard good thing's on the board's as far as the procomp's are concerned.

Good Luck...Mike

Hello,

The best tire depends on what you plan on doing with your vehicle. For me, I drive strictly on the highways, so I looked for street tires. I recently put a set of Michelin Crossterrains on my Expedition. I also have the stock 17" Ford aluminum rims. I believe the size of the stock tires were 265-70-17. Anyways, the tires perform great and look much better (in my opinion) than the Goodyear Wranglers that are stock on many Expeditions and F150's. I fully expect to get at least 50K miles out of these.

After doing much research, I settled on the Michelins for two reason. One was treadlife and the other was the outstanding feedback from the owners. I went to all of the various websites in which tire are rated, and the Michelins consistently have the highest ratings and likelihood to buy again ratings. The reason I went with the Crossterrains over the LTX series was because of road noise. According to the salesperson, the Crossterrains have slightly quiter ride than both the LTX M/S and LTX A/T. However, if you are planning on doing any offroading, I would recommending going with the LTX A/T's.

Finally, the only other choice I was considering was the Pirelli Scorpions. This was an attractive option for me because these tires were also very highly regarded as being one of the best sport tires for trucks/SUV's. This tire as I understand it is not intended for offroading. Another plus was that Pirelli makes these tires in plus sizes (285/60/17) over the OEM size. But the two major drawbacks in my opinion were the relatively low treadlife expectancy and the high price ($50 more for each tire).

Will the Pro Comp's fit on the stock 17'' wheels? My brother has those Pro Comp tires and there awsome. Not to loud on the highway and very aggressive in the mud. Do you know the width of the stock rims? I believe those Pro Comp 33x12.50-17's will only fit on an 8''-10''rim. I cranked up my torsion bars but don't think they'll fit. Do you know for sure that they'd work? Or would I need to install a 3'' spindel lift in the front?

Bubbabridges, would they have fit on the stock rims? And do you have any problems with the tires rubbing? Are your torsion bars cranked up? I just wanna make sure before I go buy some to try and fit them on the stock wheels. Thanks
