Hey, call me stupid, but I've looked through this owners manual twice and still can't find anything about the off/auto buttons on my rear view mirror. I'm presuming it maybe switches between day/night mode if left on auto. I find dozens of pages about how to buckle my seat belt and about air-bag deployment but cannot find "rear view mirror" in the index. A shop manual is in order.

Just leave it on auto...Ir will sense the difference between the light in front and behind the mirror and if there is more light from the rear, it will dim (day or night).
