Question Ford running boards; cost and part#

Just got my new SCrew last week. Other than a vibration/shudder I notice at 60-65 MPH it is a great vehicle. I'll give it a few thousand miles before having that checked. This truck didn't come with running boards but I would like to install a set of the standard Ford board type steps. My dealer said he would give them to me at his cost but quoted me a price of approx $540.00. I think he had the wrong part# but I was in a hurry and left without checking into it. Anyone been through this and know the cost or correct part#?

If you check in the classified ad section under accessories, I believe someone is selling their stock black running boards for $150 (for the SCREW). That is a good price (if they are in good shape). I think they were listed on my invoice for $250 or thereabouts.

I will sell mine for $150. I am in Seattle, and I pulled them off right after I took delivery of my truck so they are just like new.

Shoot me a mail if you are interested, I can even get discounted shipping for you through work. We get 70% off so it should be pretty reasonable.

My email is gadgeteer@hotmail.com.

Sakol: Also investigate the Cord Design product available out there. I was disappointed with the quality of the Ford product compared to the Cord offering. The boards by Cord are supported their entire length by billet aluminum, with four brackets per side. They mate perfectly to the factory mount points on the Screw. You can opt for lighted or unlighted. Cord Design has a website, but it's not particularly helpful. I'm sure you can find a local dealer. Once you inspect these boards up close and personal, I think you'll agree they're an excellent piece of work.

Thumbs down

Whatever you do, do not buy them new from the dealer. For some reason they do not sell these as a kit yet, (like they do for the Expy) so the parts department tries to get retail for each individual piece of hardware. I was actually quoted a dealer wholesale of about $775 for the factory boards. I told them they were crazy. I bought a take-off set from the classifieds here for $150 plus about 80 for shipping, I think. Easy to bolt on, but you may need to get about 26 of the speed nuts that clip onto the body mounts to bolt the boards. (Got mine from the local home store for half what the dealer wanted, as well.)

Hey GadgetPhreak,

What kind of DVD video/ monitor system do you plan to get? Will it be installed in your console on the floor or on the ceiling. With the moonroof, i don't know if the ceiling one would fit. Thanks.
