Wanting a supercrew
Hi folks, just a quick not to ask people's opinions about the screw. Gas milage, performance, stuff like that. I have been looking at them for about two months now. What I want is a 2wd white lariet with tan interior. I just can't decide if I want the buckets up front or the 60/40 bench. I currently have 6 passenger seating in my Chevy Ext. Cab, and I can't decide if I want to give up the extra seat. Anyone own a 6 seater?
Thx

We have the bench seat in our Screw. Never use it to set 6. The only really complain I have is the gas mileage. I can only get about 17 on the Hiway.

RickC:
Up here in New England it is essential to get the 4WD, but according to your handle your location doesn't require it. My only regret with the seating is not having six-way adjustment on the 40/60 seat. The seat portion of mine does not tilt and always seems to tilt a little too far forward, I'd like to recline it, along with the seat back. But, I wouldn't want to sacrifice the six-seat capacity...check out if you can get what you'd like in comfort and seating capacity.
Regarding fuel consumption....BIG disappointment. I take a lot of 75-125 mile trips on the highway at about 70 miles per hour...and I barely get 16 MPG with the 4.6 liter in an XLT SCrew 4X4.

I will offer this. I have the Captains Chairs. I think w/ the arm rest, they are more comfortable. But, there is a different center console in the Captains Chair models. If you get the 6-disc CD changer you it wil be in the center console only if you have Cap chairs. Otherwise it behind the rear seats which is inconvient while driving. I like the center console that comes with the Cap chairs better w/ or w/out the CD changer. I dont require hauling (6) so it's easy for me.
Good luck. I would not let the milage scare you away. I love this truck and I have a feeling you will too. They are sharp vehicles.

Don't buy it for gas mileage. If you want mileage, get an economy car....
Seriously, Mileage isn't that bad for what you get. I upgraded from a 92 Nissan Pathfinder and my mileage isn't that different. So far about 16 MPG in mostly city driving.
I prefer the Capt chairs. (I've got the Gen III). they are real supportive. I like the large console for the CD changer and room for lots of other stuff. I like the tan leather interior with my Az Beige exterior.
The truck is just smooth and fast. The few times I've had it on the highway without traffic, I look down and I'm going 80mph+....
Wouldn't trade it for anything now.

my screw should be arriving any day now. I went with the leather benches... they were very comfortable to me and I'm not getting the ford cd changer (prefer in-dash options). The fold down cup-holder/storage backing of the middle seat is plenty functional enough for me re: a console, and the best part about the bench is that my girlfriend can be right next to me while I'm driving
not to mention total seating for 6, and with the gen III the bench seat is basically bucketed anyway.
just my $0.02

There was a pretty good discussion here a few days ago regarding buckets vs. bench. At the time, the overwhelming response was bench.
I originally wanted the captains chairs (thought it would be cool), but the wife talked some common sense and I am glad I listened. I have the bench and it feels like bucket seats the way they did the leather. The fold-down center console fits my needs fine, and I actually used all 6 seats the other day (4 adults, 2 kids in car seats) with no problem at all.
I love it!

Me personally, i would go with the bucket seats, i like the comfort better and and the ride. It feels more kosey with the bucket seats in my opinion, but i've never been a bench seat person. And i like the center console too. I think you would be happy with either depending on wether you hall six people around alot or not.
My wife and I test drove and SCrew yesterday and she said I had to get a Tahoe if I chose the split bench. I had to agree with her, the Captains chairs are much more comfy for the passanger. Her only complaint that it was not power on her side.

My truck has the clith 60/40 bench in the front, and I keep saying if I could change anything, it would be to have the leatehr buckets and console that are in my wife's Expy. I have not had a chance to sit in the leather 60/40 so I could not say if that would satisfy me or not.
