Post aftermarket rear captain's chairs?

There being many ways to skin a cat, I thought I'd try a different tack. As I mentioned earlier my wife isn't too fond of any of the King Ranch colors. But all she really wants is rear captain's chairs (or buckets) with a console between them. This not only enforces child separation, but gives them a place to store their 'stuff'.

Has anyone heard of a source for rear captain's chairs for the Screw? I've seen lots of web sites with front seats, but no rears. I would think somebody would offer these by now....

thanks,

Geoff Sherwood

Well, not only is the HD edition even harder to come by than the King Ranch, but black looks great when clean and so-so otherwise. Knowing myself and how often I'm going to have a spotless vehicle -- black really isn't the best choice for me.... Besides, my Harley is red!

Anyway, my rationale is that I can get an absolutely loaded XLT for about $27.5 because I can get it near invoice. A King Ranch will cost about $6K more because it goes for near list. And an XLT comes in a wide variety of color choices (my wife likes Toreador Red over Arizona Beige -- I don't care that much, but....).

So if I get the XLT I've still got the moonroof, 5.4L, etc, etc, and I've got $6K available for interior upgrades. I betcha I could get the seats redone in really high quality leather for that kind of money....

But rear separate seats for the little basta^H^H^H^H^Hangels (:-)) is a good idea, as is a storage area/separation zone console. Actually a solid piece of plexiglas has its merits -- but it would be killer on resale. And I'd still like to sneak a couple of VHS players back there somewhere run to LCDs on the front seat backs. But I digress.... In order to do this I've got to find a source for the rear seats.

Another thought on the fronts -- anybody know if upholsterers can reshape seats as well? At 6'4" and 250 lbs the bolsters on the front seats really aren't my friends....

gcsherwood - How about ordering the seats from the dealer or from a Ford parts wholesaler?

Geoff, just FYI, the KRs don't always go for list - I got mine at AutoFair Ford in NH for $500 over, less the rebate = invoice, at $33,245 (list $37.6k). Sheehy in VA was going to sell me one for even less. Most of the dealers I talked to in person were unwilling to negotiate all that much on the KRs, but some of the volume dealers & dealers doing business on the internet will. Just in case you change your mind.

For 6 grand you should be able to find an aftermarket company that could sell you leather Recaros or Sparco seats for all four seating positions and build you brackets to make the back ones work like the factory ones and get you a factory center console to boot. Check into it. I think it would be well worth it.
