Question Where are the bed rail stake holes?

Why did Ford take the bed rail holes out of the SCrew? I like to use tie-downs at the top of the bed. Anyone find this a problem and find a solution?

I don't believe the bed has stake pockets. The outside of the bed is made of a composite plastic, so maybe it's not strong enough for stakes. You can still use the tiedowns provided on the inside of the bed.

Dewayne,

Sorry if you're feeling ignored. Extang makes a cleat that mounts to your bed rail. Check this option as an alternative solution to the lack of stake holes...

http://www.extang.com/cleatsindex.html

I'm not sure if they will work well with the bed rail caps on the SCrew, but if they do I think they're just what you are looking for.

Maybe someone has already tried them and could comment further.

Exclamation

I have two sets of these cargo cleats. They do *NOT* fit over the bed rail cap as they come from the factory. However, a couple of minutes with my drill took care of that. I drilled fresh holes in the cleats, lower than the factory holes, and while they do not align quite right, they hold solidly, and are very functional. The nautical cleat has been around forever, and is one of the simplest fastening systems there is.

Unless Extang has changed something in the past few weeks, they will work for you, with a small modification required.

You might want to take a look at the 'Bully Clamp' at http://www.bullyclamp.com
I just ordered 2 sets, should be here next week.
I think they'll fit without modification.
When they get here I'll put them on my 3-week-old Dark Highland Green Lariat!

Shootstar, it looks like that bolt that comes up from the bottom to tighten the clam has to go through the rail. Are you going to have to drill? If so, they would not really be adjustable. If you don't have to drill, it looks like a good setup.

Wink

Kenster,

It says right next to the picture on their web site, "clamps on with no drilling".

If that is so I would assume that it is tensioned on from the rear.

Kenster,
Check out the ' Technicals' link on the Bully Clamp web site. It looks like they tighten from the bottom so they should work on our rails.
I'll let you know next week when they show up and I put them on.

Thanks to all for the reply. I have been away for about three weeks and just now catching up.

Shooting Star,
Those clamps look like they will work. Please keep us advised on your installation and ease of use. Photos would be nice too.

Starr,

It has been about five weeks since you ordered the BullyClamp. Are you still waiting for delivery? Maybe they aren't a reliable supplier if they take that long and don't have stock on the shelves.
