Post SCREW VS. EXTENDED CAB

Why doesn't Ford make a longer cab with the Screw? Going to have to get extended cab model to get the box I need but really like the Screw. Would like to know pros and cons screw vs. extended cab.

Just set in the back seat of both and you'll see the pro's of the Screw. Sure the Xcab has a bigger bed,but my Family don't ride in the bed.

Cool

BBB,

Get the SCrew! Unless you routinely haul 4'x12' sheet rock (or large items over 10'), require a toolbox in the bed at all times or mostly like driving alone, the SCrew can most likely handle your needs and give you room for your family and friends to ride with you.

Unhappy

I got the extended cab, but regret I didn't wait for the S-Crew to come out.

BBB,
If you need the 6ft or 8ft bed along with crew cab .. Get the F-250 SuperDuty with crew cab with a choice of 6ft bed or 8ft bed. Does that help you decide on which model of Ford truck to get?

I traded my 99 F150 Supercab w/ 6ft bed in for a 2001 Screw Lariat and couldn't be happier. I had a little project at the house and needed some wood, so off to Home Depot for the wood, and they were 8 ft pieces that I tied down , and I went on my merry way. No problem with them sticking out the back some. Believe me, I loved my F150 Supercab, but I love my Screw that much more.

Why did Ford do the Screw on the medium size frame? We have a Supercab with the 8' bed, so it is a fairly long truck. If Ford did the Screw on this, you could probably have your 6 foot bed. Is it that people don't like driving long vehicles? To dificult for the average driver? Frankly, I think if they wanted a family vehilce that can still haul some goods, they should've gone for the Excursion of the Expedition. Just my thoughts.

Really depends how you use your truck. I had a '92 Supercab and it fit my needs well until we had two children. Then it got sort of crowded stuffing everyone in. We could do it but it wasn't easy, especially on long trips. I don't routinely haul long stuff so the shorter bed is not an issue for me. The SuperCrew is perfect for my needs now.

IAMCA, I think it's the parking issue - I bought a SuperCrew instead of an F-250 Crew Cab at least partially because with the full length bed, it becomes very difficult to parallel park, and even to park in many parking lots. The SCrew already won't fit in some spots (too long), and another 18" would have made it too long for the vast majority of parking places, at least in Boston and other large Eastern cities.

I feel if you wanted a crew cab on a real long truck you could always go with the 250, 350 series. But, now they have that option w/out exceeding the overall lehgth of the 150 trucks. The 150 size truck is all that would fit in my garage because it's not oversized.

The Screw has some great options and is a classy looking truck. I traded my 99 F150 extended cab in May of last year for my Screw and could not be happier. I had my ext cab for just 6 months when I heard about and started seeing the first pictures of the Screw and new then it was the truck I needed. Have had no problem hauling the things I need to haul and have ample, comfortable room in the cab. I've never had more comments about a truck.
