Thumbs up Extang Tonneau Dealer References?

I have been having a difficult time finding a good deal on an Extang BlackMax tonneau cover from a reputable dot com company. I almost ordered from truckperformance.com until I read the strings within this message board (it sounds pretty risky). The price was great at $192, but too many people have had troubles with them.

I have e-mailed Extang directly twice asking for information from them on their dealers... with no reply. This suprises me a little since most of the posts within this board are positive about Extang's costomer service. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, moon

Oops... I forgot to mention that I also tried AutoAccessory.com with no luck. Their customer service rep. claimed that they couldn't get the cover for a 2001 Screw. Sounds like a training problem to me...

bigpapamoon,

I have the Extang Blackmax Cover on my Wife's Screw. I had a couple of problems with the cover. First I had to trim the bow nearest the tailgate. If you don't the side rails will not line up with the end rail(one on the tailgate). Second I found the end rail(tailgate again)will not stay on without the cover holding in on. It's like the side rails are not bent enough for the clips to catch the one's on the tailgate rail. You can take the end rail off and drive with out it when the cover is off. The side rails have clips on the ends that keep the snaps from coming off while driving. We don't haul much with our Screw so the cover never come's off.Other than that I really like the cover. The black snaps really hide good in the black cover. Good luck

Thumbs up

I have not had a single problem with my Extang. I love mine and would buy it again. I had to read the instructions carefully. I kept trying to rush through it and I had to take it off and put it on a couple of times. Now, the fit is perfect!

dbdun - Yes it's a soft tonneau cover. You can find more information about it at www.extang.com. Many on this board have been satisfied with Extang products.

Mikebourg - Nice looking truck. Thanks for the input.

Try www.tpcarguy.com - Black Max = $183.00.
Love mine, except putting it on in the cold.

Talking

1st - Thanks to all the posters for the help.

Update: Ordered Extang BlackMax tonneau cover from www.tpcarguy.com for $183 + $13 shipping = $196 total. Ordered on Monday 2/19 at ~7am, was delivered to my house on 2/22 at ~3pm (the company claims about 5-7 day delivery). It took about 1 hour to install (I'm just slightly mechanically inclined). It fits great and looks great

Still no reply from Extang, maybe they are out of the customer service racket??
