SCrewBall,
I will concede to you gladly, I would not wish those taxes on anyone. Our town taxes are based on a real estate reassesment done in 1998. Prior to that the value was based on the year 1987. Real estate was booming in our area in 1987 so market values actually were down in 1998. Therefore the mil rate took a jump to compensate for the loss in 1998. Unfortunatly when that happens those with new or expensive vehicles take a hit. Good luck.

So. NH SCREW Owner,

Will the people of New Hampshire stand for a sales tax? In the past they have always been adamently opposed to sales or income tax.

Who knows what the future brings. NH is slowly becoming a state of "foriners". You're only a native if you were born here (BTW - I was born in Hanover, NH)!

The Gov's new proposal also lowers the business, dividends and interest taxes PLUS eliminates the 18% inheritance tax. I could live with the 2.5% to get the 18% tax repealed. It's a big "something for nothing" tax in my opinion.

There is a big flap going on over property taxes to support schools. What used to be local now is state wide in the interest of educational equality. In my opinion decentralization never helps. The more hands the money passes through the lower the return on the original investment because each set of hands takes a little bite.

As previously stated - The two sure things in life - "Death and Taxes"

O.K. Stepping down off my soap box now!!
