Post King Ranch 4WD Unavailable?

Hi all, quick comment - one of the Sales Managers of Huntington Beach Ford (Joe Evans) told me today that Ford is not producing 4WD King Ranch trucks, that none had been produced, and that Ford had not even set up a line for them.

Since there is another thread here in which one of our esteemed members posted a picture of his 4WD King Ranch, is this guy flat out lying to me or what? (He did happen to have available a Lariat with most of the options which come on the KR, which I very nearly bought before I thought better of it and decided to come ask here...)

Ummm almost every King Ranch truck at the dealerships in Austin, Tx have 4x4... I have only seen one without it.

I know the member that has the King Ranch and ride in that truck every day. I was with him when he bought it. It is 4WD.

Now, maybe they aren't producing the 4x4 KR anymore but they have produced them, so you have at least been halfway lied to. They are produced at the Missouri Ford Plant, so maybe you could find out through them.
Good luck.

Cool

Well i feel really special for having the only one in the world.... That guy is lying to you. in fact when i went to get mine i wasnt sure if i wanted to moonroof on it or not so the guy i bought it from was kind enough to get a list of all the ones available near by. there was more than a couple pages worth of info. There might not be many of them available. But if you really want one they are out there.

Exclamation

Yes, it comes in 4WD.
More importantly, I have had similar experiences with sales slugs. (That's why I lurk here ) I wouldn't call what they do lying, most just simply suck at their job. For some reason, it appears to me that the industry (Auto Sales) is simply interested making a high profit, quick sale. I have only run into one individual which was knowledgable about his product.
It continues to amaze me with the amount of wrong information (or lack of) f150online members continue to report.
Just my opinion, but I believe they think that the buying public (in general) is stupid, and knowledge about their product is superfolus (sp?). In general, they may be right.

Classic...

This is great though, DC is not that far, I could potentially go down for a weekend... New York or New Hampshire would be even better, anyone seen a Chestnut fully loaded King Ranch 4WD in the northeast anywhere? :-)

Jim, I've got a KRE on order through Portsmouth Ford in N.H. They had a Chestnut and a Charcoal Blue on the lot but I wanted the Estate Green.

JimWright,

If you search their website for the KRE you will find that they have a "Sheehy Markdown Price" which on these KRE's is about $5000 off of the MSRP of ~$35000 and is about 87.5% of MSRP. and what appears to be about .75% less than invoice.

If you do take a drive down to Springfield, VA you will be able to see the "Mixing Bowl" for yourself. This is where I-95, I-495, I-395, FairFax County Parkway, and numerous roads all converge to make driving hell.

Brossman is right, the salesman was just trying to make a quick sale. The dealerships thrive on people who come in just looking and make a brash decision. An uninformed consumer is thier best customer as they can set many prices and tell you all kinds of things that may perpetuate the sale, or you can be smart and walk out and go searching for information such as JimWright did. You should go see those other dealerships' websites that offer those deals on KR and present that to a dealership in your area, perhaps the same one, but I would not go with that same slimey salesman. Show them the information, because it is up to the dealerships to make the deals to the consumer, Ford only gives them the incentives to use and they can choose which customers they offer it to. If you are smart and show them who is one up, then it's more likely you will walk out with a better deal. Hey, just try it, the worst that can happen is they say no, there are many dealership out there and much better salesmen. And if I were you I wouldnt get the KR in 4x2... it just doesn't look as nice...and I have a regular F150 4x2 so don't get all upset! The King Ranch just looks better in 4x4.
Good luck

Ok, this is bizarre, after seeing their excellent prices, I talked to Jim Litwin at Sheehy today, and he insists that they have no King Ranch 4WDs in stock. Anyone seen one there recently? Their web site lists five in stock!

I posted a vehicle inquiry on their web site just now, we'll see what they say. In the mean time, any others seen out there much appreciated! I'll find one... :-)

Hmmm that would explain why those "KRs" on that page were Oxford White and Deep Wedgewood Blue and the picture is a regular SCrew. KR's only come in three colors, Estate "Guacamole" Green, Charcoal Blue, and Chestnut.

JimWright,

Sorry to give you bad info. I saw thes KR's come up on their website about a week ago. I have a Screw on order from their Gaithersburg locaiton.

All of their pictures of Screw's are white. Much easier than taking pictures of each new one that hits the lot.

The Gaithersburg location has a gorgeous black/tan 4x4 (GenIII) on their lot. If my current truck breaks down before my ordered truck comes in I might be able to talk the wife into letting me buy that one.
