Question how accurate are your dealers on ETA for your SCrew?

I got a call from the dealer saying that my new SCrew will arrive on FEB 19th or that week. As I understand, the truck will come by rail then it get sorted out at the "hub" then shipped to the dealer by 18-wheel truck since Supercrews could not fit anywhere on the trailer but on the rear. I did called the dealer way back in DEC and JAN inquire about the build date. At first, He told me it would be build on 12/29/00 or 01/02/01 depending on the plant closing on the holidays. Second time, the dealer said the build date will be on 01/29/01. Few days later, I got a call from the dealer on 01/24/01 saying that the ETA for my new truck will be on Feb 19th.
My question is how accurate are your dealer's estimate when they give you the ETA on your new SuperCrew truck? I can't wait to pick up my new Screw during the week of Feb 19th.

SeaMark,
As you can see from my sig., we are very similar time lines. I have received all of my information from VOPC, I dropped the dealer once they gave me the VIN.
This information is current as of today, though it is interesting that I have not received any "bucked" or "locked" status as this link http://www.ford-diesel.com/faq/1999f...rderDuring.htm to the Ford Diesel site suggests?

So anyway, your information from the dealer seems to coincide with the information I get from VOPC.

SeaMark,
My dealer said 6 to 7 weeks. I added a week for the Xmas week shutdown. Had delivery at about 7 1/2 weeks. Call VOPC yourself and you should have a good idea. I called the dealer to tell him it should be there after VOPC status of "vehicle at destination". Called the next day and they had it.
The Kansas City plant was closed the 3rd week of January (according to BlueOval News) so that might account for some of the changes you have had.

SeaMark,
Until you mentioned a VA plant, I assumed that all SCrews were built in KC.
If I rememeber correctly, my VIN indicates the build location and I believe it is KC.

I heard the following:

(1 wk later) Build week of 1/22

(1/22) Truck is built and on train. Expect it at dealer on (2/1)

Brossman and others,
You are right about which plant. I went home and doublecheck my VIN. It says "K" which means Kansas City plant ( correct?). I don't know why the dealer saleman say 'Norfolk". But thanks anyway!

What type of Screw you got?
Does your truck have two-tone paint?
- have lots of options?
- Lariat or XLT?
- which plant? (Kansas / Norfolk / ?)
- 4x4 or 4x2?
I am just trying to get some idea how you got yours first before mine. I ordered mine on DEC-9-00 .. just three days after you ordered yours. I am in MD/VA area and you are in NM.
Thanks in advance if you reply.

Question

SeaMark,
Now that I am in the build week (like you) I call VOPC once a day, just to hear a change in that status, but I never get it?
Have you gotten a change of status yet from VOPC?

Brossman,

You check once a day? You sure can't wait to get your new Screw, huh?
No, I let the dealer call the VOPC since he does it every two days. If there's any change in the status, he will notify me right away. I am trying not to think too much about my new Screw or I will go crazy! I will post another msg here to let you guys know when I get mine.

At best, VOPC was only updated about once a week when I was checking. I still checked every day cause I couldn't stand the wait. My truck arrived on 12/19 but the ETA I was given by VOPC was the following week. Almost everyone seems to get theirs before their ETA.

Either way it's worth the wait.

Thumbs up

That's good information Wickman.
Like you, I'm just anxious, and have expected the status to change as my truck begins rolling down the line. It would be great if Ford had an online site where we can watch trucks being built, perhaps even have the ability to see your truck.
I also need a little lead time from the ETA because I haven't gotten all the cash together yet, waiting to time it right with the market.

SeaMark, the race is on. If VOPC is correct, I should be washing and waxing before you, but who knows. I also have an advantage that I'm a straight shot (Boulder, CO) from the plant, though I don't know where you are located. Good Luck
