Smile Installed Gibson Exhaust, etc.

Well, I've just spent the last of the money I originally set aside for my SuperCrew mods . Several weeks ago, I installed an AirForce One FIPK. This week I had a Gibson Sweptside SI/SO (single-in, single-out) exhaust system installed. All I can say is amen to those who recommended this combo! The new exhaust really maximizes the impact of the FIPK. I'm no "dyno-head", but the feel at the wheel is much improved, especially with regard to low-end torque and frewway passing power.

By the way, the Gibson SS gives the truck a nice "throaty" tone, but not so much as to alert the neighbors when I'm coming down the street.

I am interested in your MPG increasing. I want to do the same thing, but I'd like more low end power and better MPG. Don't know if Gibson or Ravin yet.
TIA

Cool

CACeeJay.....

I to am looking at having the Gibson S/S installed on my 2001 SuperCrew 4x4. I currently have a Superchip with Velosity Tube installed and think the Gibson S/S would compliment the two very nicely.

I have been putting off the Gibson Exhaust for sometime now, but now after reading your comments...I think It is time to do the last and final mod!!

It made that big of a difference on your truck??

Cool

The truck "feels" like its has better throttle response and passing power. How much additional horsepower? Who knows. I can only go by how it feels.

As to gas mileage, I'll let you all know after a few tanks. The problem is that any appreciable gain in gas mileage will more than likely be offset by my desire to stand on the pedal every chance I get in order to use the additional power that I now have .

Has anyone been able to contrast the Dual Sport with the Swept Side? I am having a real hard time deciding between the two.

Mikebourg...

The Dual Sport is a single-in, dual out, catback system. The pipes exit beneath the back bumper. From what I've been able to determine, the dual setup is supposed to be considerably louder than stock and is not recommended for towing. Check out the Gibson website at http://www.gibsonperformance.com/

I checked out the website and it appears from the picture that the Dual Sport is the same as the Swept Side except for the fact that it is single in dual out. It looks it exits both pipes side by side behind the tire just like stock. The Split Rear is not recommended for towing where it looks like the Dual Sport is. Anyone else have any information about real world experience contrasting the two, i.e. Swept Side and Dual Sport? Thanks.
