MSRP/Invoice Price?
Airial,
I am paying $500 over invoice here in the Wash. D.C. area. The dealer I am buying my Screw from has a "markdown price" on all of their vehicles along with the MSRP price. The markdown price is about 90% to 91% of MSRP. When I talked to a sales person she said that she "could get it down to $500 over invoice." I figured that with all of the honesty about not trying to seriously gouge the buyer that I could live with that price.
When I went in to order my Screw, because they couldn't find one that had the option I wanted the created an order and came back with the invoice plus $500 price. I reached into my pocket to get all of my invoice info obtained from the web, and the manager came back quickly with another sheet that listed the invoice and MSRP price for the vehicle and all of its options. The final price of invoice plus $500 was ok for me.
So, the moral of the story is get your informaiton from the web about invoice pricing and print it out and take it with you. Also, read up on "dealer holdback", this is their money from the sale plus whatever else the can get out of you.
Figure out what you are willing to pay and make them an offer. If they accept fine, if they counter offer you will have to evaluate their counter offer. Remember they are trying to extract as much money as possible from your wallet. If they ask you about what you want your monthly payments to be tell them that you hadn't given that any thought yet and remove that as one of their tools.
Quite a few years ago when I went to purchase a vehicle the came to me with a piece of paper with a bunch of numbers written all over it with one of the number circled and said here is the deal. I told them that I had no idea what all of the numbers written on the piece of paper were and that they would have to itemize each number specifically identifying what it was. They came back with something I could read and we closed the deal then.
Good luck!

WE orderd a Harley F150 Screw in September after seeing one in Sturgis this past August. The dealer had no info on it but gladly took our deposit. We spec'ed out the truck and got invocie vs. MSRP so we could haggle. Dealer went ahead and ordered it without telling us so we had to no choice on options, then told us it was MSRP only. We fired him and are now going to small claims court to get back our deposit.
A dealer 5 miles away sold us the same truck at 1% over invoice including all options. All it took was a phone call, and a visit to get it IN WRITING.
Get your financing done before you go so you have the money in your pocket. A salesman will follow you if you walk out after telling him you're paying cash so I'll drive up the road.
Don't fall for those "I gotta talk to my manager" schticks...all they're doing is discussing last nights game.
Good Luck

I'm trying to buy a SuperCrew in the
Nebraska/South Dakota area.
All the dealers so far are trying to
get me to pay MSRP or close to it.
Where do you guys find dealers that
will sell for a few hundred over invoice?
Thanks for any advice. Airial
