Question Is dealer required to give $500 rebate?

Is the dealer required by Ford to give us the $500 dollar rebate without us asking for it? Since I ordered my new Screw at $50 over invoice, I was wondering this? And do they give us a check or just take it off the invoice?

Since Ford is calling this "customer cash" rather than a dealer incentive I am pretty sure this is a payment from Ford to customer. The dealer is neither hurt or helped by this. A "dealer incentive" may be shared with customer or retained by the dealer. Edmunds.com gives a good explanation of the difference. Careful reading of the fine print has me wondering if you have to use Ford Motor Credit to qualify? I have delivery scheduled for last week of January so I will know soon.

Cool

NewScrew: They are probably *supposed* to, but not required. I can feel your pain on the taxes here in Huskerland...
Welcome to the board! Maybe we'll see each other around here the way all the Texas boys seem to hang together!

Talking

The customer cash is based on "taking retail delivery" by April 2, 2001. It does not specify that it has to be from dealer inventory. Of course, Ford says to check with your dealer for full details. I will call my dealer Monday and post what he has to say. BTW, I ordered at invoice price so we will see if that is a factor......

Thumbs up

Brossman,

I was told when I ordered mine that if a rebate was available at the time I took delivery, that I would get it.

brossman,

My turn to help you now. Check your area - you might find that you can either get $500 cash back for your Screw OR something even better - 0.9% financing for 36 months. The offer is good in my area until the end of Feb. God I hope my Screw arrives before that!

That should put a little hitch in your giddyup. Gooday!

Hey, I don't know if all you guys are paying cash for your vehicles,(if you are I congradulate you), but taking the lower interest rate saves you alot more than taking the $500 today. $1600.00 over the 5 year note. Thats King Ranch Money!

I hope when you signed your purchase order and other documents you didn't sign a release on future rebates. I have seen that a couple of times. When you make your best deal the dealer may count on that rebate, and that is why you got the deal you got. I signed them away on two vehicles but was happy with my price. It may be different in the U.S.

Question

SliverStreaker,
Are you suggesting that, although you ordered the truck sometime before the rebate went into affect, you believe that you may receive the factory rebate when you take delivery in a few weeks? I am very interested in this outcome as I am in a similar situation, and could use an extra $500.
Please keep us informed as to the outcome.

Thanks Gentlemen,
I have signed nothing that indicates to me I have forfitted any possible rebates.
I am fortunate enough to pay cash for my vehicles, so I'll take the rebate.
I will most certainly have the truck by the deadline, so we'll see what the dealer says.
You guys may have just made me another $500. I love it when a plan comes together

My dealer told me yesterday that if it was in effect when I took possession (3 weeks now) I would get it, but the Ford site explicitly says "from dealer stock".
Though I would like to think I am going to get it, do not underestimate your (or my) dealers ability to us what we want to hear, then back track when the rubber hits the road.
I'll know for sure in 3 weeks.

Unless your credit is really bad or your are paying cash you are typically better off taking the reduced interest rate financing form Ford Credit. Nine years agot I was offered 7.7 on my '92 Ranger purchase or $750 cash. Well the reduced interest rate wound up saving me $1100 on the interest. I saved $450 letting them keep the $750 rebate. It only amounted to about $9 a month.
