OPINIONS
My lease on my 98 F-150 is up in August, I have been wondering if there have been any downsides or unhappy people with the Supercrew. I am currently considering the Supercrew and the XLT again and also a Tahoe. I want everyones opinions. Thanks.
Personally, I love my SCrew, and would buy it again in a heartbeat. Your decision will depend on what you use your truck for.
If you regularly haul either people who have to sit in the rear or high-value cargo that should be locked up, and do not use the bed that often, then an SCrew would be great for you. If you use the bed for hauling oversize items often, then you would be better off with a SCab or even a standard pickup.
The SCrew has enough room in the bed for what I use it for, so it's a really good fit for my purposes. You will have to evaluate your needs in a vehicle, and decide based on those needs.

NJD,
I concur with Tom on what he said. I see very little downside with the Super Crew, as long as it fits your needs.
I drove a Nissan Pathfinder and it was good for my needs, but my needs changed. The Super Crew is ideal for routine hauling, especially stuff that should be outside. (Mulch, christmas trees, drums of fluids, etc) If you need large inside hauling space, the SCrew is not for you.
The large back seat does fold down and is great to carry boxes and luggage, etc. Much more room that the S-Cab.
I could not be more pleased with my Super Crew, and if it fits your needs, you will prefer it greatly over an SUV. (Especially a Tahoe, Expy, etc)It drives better than I could have ever imagined.
Good luck!

I sold my SUV after getting my screw. The day the guy drove off with it, I still noticed a couple of pine needles in the back. They were from the XMAS tree the year before. Some things don't belong in the back of an SUV, (XMAS trees, sod, lumber etc etc.). Like the guys stated before. If you need a full bed, this may not be the truck for you. If you haul alot of people, an SUV may be the right choice.
I have room for six people. I've had five sheets of plywould plus 2x4's and hardware, at one time, in the bed. It handled it with out a whimper.
This year I have no XMAS tree needles, or sap on the carpet. For me, that was huge. Good luck with your decision.

NJD1995,
The Screw will basically do for you everything the 98's doing and carry a few extra people comfortably instead of cramped. If you're a crabber or Fisher you'll like not having that stench in the passenger compartment on the ride home that the SUV always seems to carry home. Experience via my Broncos, Explorer and Expedition proves this out.
The only thing I don't like about my Screw NOW is the pre-October seats, console and lack of ORP wheels I loved my Expy for.....
All right, all right. I love my truck. I just wish it was delivered 2 weeks later now.
As far as bed size. If you don't carry large (long)items all that often this bed will be fine. If you're a contractor type you may want to look at all your bed options first.

I just ordered a SCrew and now have a 98 F150 S/C. Main reason I wanted one was because of the real back seats. Usually we all 3 sit up front...3 yo in car seat in the middle. Not really that comfortable in the back she says. So I had a good excuse when looking for one. Plus I still wanted a bed for hauling stuff.

I couldn't agree more with the prior posts. First decide how you're going to use the truck. I knew I wanted a SCrew when I took the neighbors to a dinner last 4th July. They didn't say anything at the time, but I'll never forget the look in their faces as they sat skrunched kinda sideways in my Excab. I love my truck. How nice it is to be able to put friends and neighbors inside a big, honking SCrew cab where they can actually stretch out, get ree-laxed and gab away as we hit a few nightspots. Next day, I can still haul my topsoil or toss in lawnmower and fence posts if I want.
This is a great truck.

The only thing I don't like is my Gen I bench seats and no rear headrests. The new seats are a lot better. I have very high standards and mind you, the Super Crew is not perfect but it is built at least as good if not better than other domestic full size pickups.
One thing to note with the bed, is that many people with SuperCabs have a tool box which shrinks their bed so they end up having less space than the Super Crew without a tool box.

I traded in a 2000 Explorer to get the Supercrew. I couldn't wait to get into this truck. It is the perfect blend of carrying capacties for passangers (up to 6) and hauling stuff (big) at the same time.
But the choice is yours, I am probably biased. :-)

I have the Gen.1 SCrew, and I couldn't be happier with it! Granted, I haven't Looked at other gen. trucks, but it's not like I can go out and buy another one. Atleast not yet. I(and wife) haul two car seats around so head rests are not critical at this moment. But hands down, I would buy another SCrew. It works perfectly for my family of four to work and play.
