Post Lariat cab steps FYI -FWIW

I just got a call from my dealer that my truck is there. The bad news 4 me is that it came with the platform cabsteps instead of the tubular ones I wanted. On the XLT's the 2 wl version gets platform the 4 wl version gets tubular. On the Lariat as of today, u can only get platform. So i gotta find a work around. No one could give me a definitive answer till I called VOPC and asked them this morning.
Should the dealer be able to order the ones for an XLT and do a swap for me ?
Should it be for labor only?? Since no one could tell me 4 sure when I ordered?
The dealers been great so far so I don't wanna be an @$$ about it . But what seems fair??

Whiskey,

I got the 4x4 XLT and the steps are the platform variety and not the tubular. I do agree that the tubular look better, but I'm content with the factory steps. As far as I know they are the ONLY option from the factory. I'm pretty sure you have to order the tubular steps through your Ford dealer's parts department. I thought I saw this discussed in a prior post that actually gave the part # for the tubular steps. Maybe your dealer would be willing to swap them for labor only since yours could fit another SCrew.

hey whiskey, i ordered my truck (screw xlt 2wd) with no side steps at all and ordered chrome side bars from www.gorhino.com and they look great. they cost about $319 for the pair and i installed them in about 1 hour. no drilling is required, just patience.

Cool

My 4x2 Lariat didnt come with any steps, but the local area dealers were running a promotion for $300 in accesories, so I had them put the Ford tube steps on, I think they look as good as any others Ive seen since, plus they have the FORD logo on the step part.

Hey Wickman, I was kinda hopin you might say you got tubes instead of the platforms so I could swap em for your 10 spokes off my truck ; - )......
the ones I wanted were the black "plastic" ones. At first thought I couldn't believe they were doin PLASTIC, but on second thought, my Hobrecht black powder coated "bulletproof" tubes on my Toyota started to blister after 2 years.
I saw a black XLT SCrew last week with the aforementioned black Ford factory tube steps. I don't know if it was a 2000 or 2001 so I know they exist for us . And they looked sweet.

Chevy and One50 the chrome is too much work for me - hell I got the Arizona Beige cuz it won't show dirt...LOL.

One50 do you remember when you ordered if they gave you a choice of black or chrome??

Platform cabsteps was the only factory order option on F150 SuperCrew from what I was told at the time of my order Aug '00. I ordered black tube cabsteps (nerfbars) from the dealer as a dealer installed option upon arrival of my truck from factory. They were 375.00 uninstalled and I installed them myself....very easy all you need is allen wrench, wrench, and socket set. Much better than my luverne cabsteps I got on my 99 Z71. Email me if you have any questions..broomes@swbell.net..
