Talking A CHRISTMAS GIFT FROM FORD

I sent a letter to Ford Customer Service in Dearborne, Mich. to complain about the quality of floor mats (minor issue) but i thought it was worth letting them in on the fact that they did not fit properly in the front drivers side. Yesterday the UPS guy showed up at my home with 2 packages, new Lariat front and rear floor mats, with apologizes from Ford Motor Company. Link this with my Super Crew blanket and i'm impressed.

I sent a letter to my Ford dealer complaining about the bad gas mileage I was getting. He sent over two service guys with a gallon of 87 Octane.

The splash temporarily blinded me and the only thing that saved was the flint failed on guy's Zippo.

Raoul,, I called Ford, your problem was determined to be a screw loose behind the wheel. Its not covered under warranty. Get a life.

Question

nickG

I'm glad that Ford sent you a new set of mats. What kind did you have? and what did they replaced them with. I have never been happy with mine since day one. Though they were kinda cheap.

It seems they put a set of regular f-150 Lariat mats in the truck when it was delivered. I found out by visiting my dealership and looking at other trucks while waiting for service on my a/c unit, the new mats are heavier in weight and the rear mat is one piece continous. The front mat is much larger than the one it replaced.

Question

NickG,
You ever get that A/C problem fixed? Are you still using it these days or has it cooled off there like 99% of the country?
If you get your's fixed there may be hope for me.

the weather here is back to 80 to 85 degress. the a/c unit is still not working like it should.. it does work "most" of the time. i have to "baby" it so to speak. the compressor cycles almost to frequently, and this seems to have an effect when driving longer distances. either the switch keeps burning up (already replaced one) or it freezes up, after it sits for a period (over night) it goes back normal, so over heating or freezing is more than likely the problem. however several trips to "dealership land" have not corrected the problem (another letter to ford). good to hear from you.. i hope ,when it warms up, you can correct your a/c concerns and we can compare notes.... merry christmas..!

At least Ford helped you out with your floor mats. In 96, I bought a regular cab "Eddie Bauer" that was supposed to have the matching Eddie Bauer floor mats, but instead I got a set of the wrong color floor mats out of a ranger. Here I was driving a F-150 with ranger floor mats. The dealer agreed to order the right mats, and they got them in, and would it suprise you that they were regular F-150 mats. I ended up having to order the things my self ($95 worth) just so that they said "Eddie Bauer" to match the truck.

I ordered my 97 RCFS in August 96 with floormats. None came with the truck. Sales manager promised to order me a set. A couple of weeks go by after the truck arrived in early October & I received a call that my mats were in. I walked in the showroom, "Koons Ford, in Hollywood Fl", took one look & turned around & walked out. I went back a couple of days later & told the sales manager that I'd take the mats if He'd agree to split the cost of the "F Series" mats, & he agreed. I get the mats out to my truck & find that the color doesn't match. 3-4 weeks later, the "F Series" mats arrive & I went to the showroom to pick them up. When I got there, I told the manager that I wasn't happy with the mats that I was given in the first place & told him I had absolutely no intentions of paying anythin towards the "F Series" mats. He (Slimeball) stated that the dealer didn't make any money on my deal. I then told him that I never mailed the CSI survey in & that if he didn't give me the mats I was going to tear his a$$ up in the survey. Man, his tune changed real quick & I got the mats. Lesson to be learned here folks: Don't mail that survey in til you're completely satisfied. Dealers are scared s--tless of that survey...Mark

Great that some sections of ford takes care of their problems! I have been going on 15 months and they can't seem to fix my simple little idle problem (see other posts). They are going so far as to say that if the next thing they try does not fix the problem -- they are not going to do any more -- even though I have 20 months and 20,000 miles more warranty left!!

Your right about those Ford surveys. A month ago I was in our local dealership for a minor warranty problem and they screwed it up big time (still not taken care of). A week or so later I received a survey from Ford asking my opinion on my recent service visit. I of course ripped them a new one and included my phone number with it. About two weeks later Ford called me and was VERY concerned about my service problem. The very same day my dealership called me out of the blue to correct the problem. These surveys we receive carry alot of weight with Ford. It pays to be honest on them.
