Question Seatbelt recall

I got an email notice from Auto-by-Tel that there is a recall on our Screws for the drivers side seatbelt not retracting properly. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Thumbs down

My seatbelt seems to retract properly, however I sometimes have to pull on the driver side belt several times to get to release from the B pillar so I can strap in. The belt just hangs-up in the locked mode for a few seconds. It's more of an inconvenience than a problem.

I haven't noticed a problem with my drivers side belt, but my rear passanger one sometimes gives me problems coming out after retracting back. Part of my problem might be that I have a child seat back there 98 % of the time, and i notice the problem when i take the seat out, let the belt retract, then pull it out again it will only come out about 6 inches before locking.

To remedy the problem, I let the belt sit in full retract for a bit, and then it works fine. I'm wondering if this is the same problem you owners with front seat belt problems are experiancing.

Well, according to dtrosch's post, it looks like my truck falls into this category. Truck built week of 9/4/2000. I don't think the dealer knows of this yet. I'll have to inform them.
But lately, I'm reluctant to give up my truck for a day. If ya'll have heard of the weather in the northeast, lake effect snows abound. Got 8-10 inches last night.

PS. I know it says regular cab trucks, but I would assume they use the same mechanism. ???

I probably should have mentioned my info came cut-and-paste from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Auto Safety website.
