Question 60/40 or Captains chairs?

I pose this question to current owners, and future buyers of the SuperCrew.I'm really close to buying one of these fine trucks, but I'm trying to decide between the 60/40 or Captains chairs for the front seat.I'm pretty comfortable from reading the previous posts as well as looking for myself of the fact that captains chairs mean cupholders in middle of flip down portion of back seat,60/40 mean flip down cupholders located near floor in front seatback. My question to everyone is which option did you choose or will you choose from a comfort, and practicality standpoint? Also does anyone know if the captains chairs extend further out toward your knees? Thanks alot in advance

Jeff-
I have had both. And I prefer the front 60/40 bench seat. Don't forget it also has large center armrest with cupholders and compartment. I am 6-4" and the center console takes up some of my comfort zone. The armrest on the bench seat also is much more comfortable than the toothpick armrests on the Capt's chairs. Women passengers like the bench seat, also.

jeff k,

I've ordered captains chairs partially because I'm getting the 6-Disc changer which I understand is housed in the Center Console like on my old Explorer. This is 10 times more convenient than behind the back seat. It's also what I'm used to coming out of an Explorer.

My father in Law has the 60/40 bench and it's fine, I'm comfortable in both and could probably be happy either way so for me it comes down to the functionality issue and the fact that I don't need a spot for passenger #6.

I went with the 60/40 bench finding the seats more comfortable. The "Captains Seat" arm rests are too short, the center fold down rear seat arm rest in the up position provides an uncomfortable ride for any center back seat passenger. The front seat seemed much more comfortable to me over all. I did like the looks of the "Captain's Seats" but comfort ruled.

Captain's chairs, had them on my 95, 97 and Y2K, and my 98 EXPY. Won't buy one with out them. To me they are more comfortable and a better console and cup holders. To each his own.

Thumbs up

When I began looking for my SCrew, I was convinced I wanted the Captain's Chairs. However, upon driving the 60/40, I found it to be a little more comfortable, and I greatly preferred the combo armrest/cupholder/storage bin the 60/40 has. I also got the power drivers seat, which makes it much more comfortable on long drives.

Both are good, but I am very glad I got the 60/40 with power drivers seat.

Either way you are still driving the best looking truck on the road.

I had to have the captians chairs. I just like the way you get a bit more of a wrap around feel from the chair. I also liked the deeper storage you get in the center console.

I am a future buyer also, and have decided to go with the 60/40 bench seats. I like the styling of the captain chairs better, but I don't think they are worth the extra $417. The bench seat will allow me to place my jacket and lunch box close without having to reach over to the pasenger side. One distinct advantage is that if you have a honey, she can get nice and close.

snodgrass,

Go to my page www.geocities.com/scmc75/f150 I have links back to this site on the install and where to get one. The '97-'99 Expy consoles work with teh F-150's but the '00-'01 do not because they are wider and they interfere with the armrests in the F-150. The new Expy's do not armrests.

Here is a link to the install in a SuperCrew. I have instructions on how to install in a SuperCab on my site.

iambill has the right idea. that's part of owning a truck right?

plus, the ability to put three in the front or our dogs helps.
