Post Why disconnect the battery after a MOD?

Hey Guys,

I have added the AirForce One and changed my exhaust. I see in here that a lot fo you are disconnecting the battery after a mod. I talked to a local exhaust guy here and he said that it doesn't really do anything.

What does it do and how is it done?

Thanks in advacne.

Hey Wingnut 33,
Disconnecting the battery allows your computer to reprogram itself with the new mods you've added to the truck.
Your computer will eventually pick up the new mods by itself, but it takes less time if you do the reprogramming. Doing this will allow the computer to pick up the new mods and incorporate them into the program quicker (within 500 miles or so).
To reprogram your computer: disconnect the negative side of the battery. Once that's done turn your headlight switch to the "on" position. That allows your computer boards to drain faster. Leave it disconnected for at least 20 minutes with the light switch in the "on" position. After the 20 minutes have elapsed, turn the light switch to the "off" position and reconnect the negative side of the battery and you're all set to go!
