K&N filter
Blue man....forget the fancy expensive air induction HP gimmicks.
Get yourself a "WMS" fresh air velocity tube. This baby is way way less money than the other guys and works as good as an air tube should or will...that is all thsese are, air tubes!!!
Yes the "WMS" may not look "as good" as the much expensive ones, but it looks good for an under the hood add on and the money you save can go towards a Gibson Exhaust or a superchip!
I have had one on my truck for about 5 months now and performs like an air tube should....SUCK BIG AIR!!!
Just my .02 cents Canadian eh!

Hi Very,
Just to give you an idea of what they really make for power gains, dropping in a replacement K&N air filter in the factory airbox will get you about 5 horsepower on either the 4.6 or the 5.4 V-8, and very little to no mileage gains.
The 5 hp you pick up is a good gain from the standpoint of bang-for-the-buck, as a K&N air filter is a cheap way to pick up 5 hp. But no $40-$50 part is going to significantly increase power or mileage, nor should anyone expect them to, you get what you pay for, at best.
Now if you go to one of the airbox elimination kits, like K&N's FIPK kit or the Airaid brand of that same kind of kit, then you will see gains of 14 hp on the 5.4 motor, and 12 hp on the 4.6 motor over stock, significantly more than just the drop-in K&N replacement air filter, and well worth their cost in my personal opinion. You might see an increase in mileage of maybe .5 mpg or so with one of those kits, but it's not going to be any big mileage gain.
In general, "airflow mods" do not yield significant increases in gas mileage. They give you nice horsepower gains, and a bit more torque, but they're not significant mileage-gainers in most cases, just to give you a rough idea of what to expect from those types of mods.
Best of luck with your truck,

Very Blue,
Just my .02 cents worth, but I bought my K&N Air Filter for only one reason: longer life. By installing this filter I no longer have to fight with the oildroids at the local zippylube express type places who want to sell me a new air filter every other visit in there.
If it gives me 5 more hp then that is a bonus. Otherwise, I figure I have saved a good deal of money in the long run over paper filters.

I recently installed a K&N filter and I was promised noticable power increases and gas millage but I honestly can't tell any difference. Has anyone else noticed a difference using a K&N filter?? maybe I should just get an air-raid.

I installed a K&N drop-in and drove it for about a year...I didn't notice any increase in power or mileage. I switched back to paper filters when some threads started talking about fine dust coatings on downstream side of their K&N.
