Question Additional Tie Downs

I often carry two motorcross bikes in my SCrew, the problem is that it can be difficult to tie them both down properly, I would like to add an additional tie down in the center of the bed towards the front of the bed. Does anyone have any ideas? Im not sure what is available or how I would go about doing it.

Thanks in Advance

Erich

You can replace the bed hold down bolts with eye bolts.

I thought about that, but the bolts are not in the right place, i.e. they are too far to the side of the bed and not in the middle where I need a tie down. Is there anything that would attach to those bolts but have a hook somewhere in the middle? Kinda like a bar connecting the two bolts with a tie down hook in the middle. I have a spray in Line-X bedliner, how can I remove those bolts with that on them?

Thanks

Erich

I have come up with a solution already guys...stay tuned for digital pics!

It's great for tieing the hound down in the back, I use it to strap down our sport bikes and dirt bikes.

My center tie down invention cost me $3.00 to buy at Home Depot.

Pics of my center tie down invention...it is very strong and can be painted over, this is also stainless steel and will not rust!

Check out my link under 2001 Supercrew.....Enjoy!

I can't get it under that link. It says "you are not the owner of this album."

Cool pics. Even if your truck isn't a fleet color ;> ) But the tie down pics are a bit dark. Did you just drill holes in the front wall of the bed and mount that bracket? Or is there some bar there that you mounted?

P.S. When you getting a *real* bike?

Bikes: Green's ok. My second favorite color after red. I was thinking more of the dirt/street issue. I see from another thread that you do indeed have a dirtbike, too. How bout putting some pics of that up on your page? Dave('00 XR400)(gonna' look nice in my white/silver Lariat when it gets here -- or in my red one if I change my mind).

Cool

Hey longtime....fleet colors rule!

I drilled two holes to match the bracket. The bracket comes with a front and HD rear backing plate and 4 nuts to lock them down and tighten the clamp to the box. The clamp has not bent or loosen yet and have tied sport bikes, snowmobiles and a 138lbs rottweiler to it....I'm sold!

Bikes....GO GREEN OR GO HOME!!!

OK Guys....I have added some new pics of the center box tie down. heck them out in my above link. There is now way that this tie down I have added to the ceneter of the box will bend or flex, I have put it through a few tests!. The clamp is supported on both the front and back by plates that the nuts are tightend down to (you will see this rectangle plate in the pics behind the nuts).

Any problems, questions or feedback would be appreciated!

Enjoy!
