This may sound dumb but,,,has anyone changed their oil and put in just what the manual says is the proper amount, with filter, regardless of the stick level? If so where does it show on the stick? I have changed mine but I top it up to the upper level mark on the stick and a friend said when he did his with the proper amount, it was half way between the marks. I guess the question is, could the upper mark be too much?

 

I had my first oil change done the other day. The book says 6 qts w/filter. The tech put in 6.3 which raised it to the top mark on the stick. Which is right???? I dunno.
