I've had the truck 1.5 weeks, thankfully without any of the problems brought to light in this group.
One question for the group: Should I change out my grill assembly for the Lariat (honeycomb) version? The cost is about $270 and I can't really afford anything more.

Nice pictures. It looks great. The pictures almost make it look wedgewood blue. I think you are the first to post a 2tone, 2wd, XLT.
The top looks great too. I haven't seen much here about Topdeck. What are you impressions of the lid? How hard is it to remove? What are the steps involved in removal?
Could you maybe get the grill cheaper from a junk yard? or from fordpartsonline.com?
I like the honeycomb better and luckily found out that here you can order a 47F special appearance package to get the color keyed grill/mirrors and honeycomb grill on an XLT 2wd.

CJ,
I was looking to change my grill also to the honeycomb 4x4 one because I like the blacked out look of it better. $270 is pretty steep. Maybe a billet insert would be cheaper, don't know.
CJ, if I may speak for you:
Anyone out there with a billet grill replacing the stock honeycomb, contact me and CJ.
To the board: I hope I'm not overstepping parlimentary procedures here by asking the above question. Apologies if that's the case.

To Arbee...
I trusted the installer - Custom Truck of South San Francisco - with the choice of the TopDeck lid. It's the brand he's had the most experience and best luck with.
The lid is pretty heavy but easy to remove with two people. I just remove the snap lock pins that secure the pistons, pull the pistons out of the ball joint mounts, and slide the lid out of the front retaining clips. Because I never run with the lid open, I've removed the wire clips that were originally installed on the front retainers.

CACeeJay,
Nice looking truck! Haven't I seen that color before?
It's too bad digitized pictures do not do island blue any justice. As you already know there is so much more personality to this color when you see it in person. You probably have already noticed that depending on the time of day and the amount of light the color actual changes from a blue to a green. Quite unique.
Enjoy the new family cruiser!
