Hi all. I just found this site a few weeks ago, and little over a week ago took possession of my new 2001 SuperCrew. Having owned a 95 Blazer, 97 Tahoe, and a 99 Denali, I've gotta tell you those were really nice SUVs. But this SCrew is one incredible ride. I'm in love with it. I had an Explorer SportTrac on order since June, and the date kept getting pushed back into late october, with no guarantee it would arrive then. The lease on the Denali was up on Friday...on Saturday I found my SCrew. It's a Lariat 4x4 with the 17 inch wheels. While I am considering replacing the wheels, I'd rather not have to. But I definitely want new tires. Something a bit bigger, more aggressive, with good off-road and good highway ride. Any suggestions for the stock 17 inch wheels? What could I swap the Goodyears out for? Anny help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if you can them any wider than 265 but look at the Yokohama Geolandar AT+. You can check them out at www.tirerack.com. I put them on my supercrew and I highly suggest them to anyone looking to replace their stock tires. You might even get a even swap for your Goodyears.

Have to agree, the 17 inch Goodyears are too skinny for a truck this size. Any other opinions on tires?

I found this tire calculator online which may be of some help in determining optimal tire sizes and effect on gear ratios and MPH. If you do not know your tire diameter (which you need to know for the various formulas), it will calculate that for you also.

I'm also looking for the largest all terrain tire that wont rub or make a lot of noise. Seems that a lot of mfgs. don't have a lot of choices for 17" wheels.

The more I look at my OEM's (GY Wranglers) the skinnier they get!
