I don't have a part number, but all you have to do is call some of your local auto supply stores, don't know what you have down there, but Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc and ask if they handle K&N Filters and if so do,they have one in stock for a 5.4L

thanks,,, it is E0945,, ($49 in south florida)i called k&n in calf. and they were perplexed by the 2001 designation, i had to call them back with the motorcraft filter number and the air box number, they were comparing it to the numbers they have in the tech area for the 2000 5.4 motor. everything matches.. some changes on the 4.6 air sensor location on the air box, ....4.6 owners beware before purchacing a 2000 model k&n.. but my 5.4 is the same. i installed it 1 hour ago,, no problems... i'll see if it makes a difference...cant hurt..famous last words..!

nick,
I think it is #0945. saw it at Discount Auto Parts in over here in Dunnellon. I think it was approx. $46.00. Says it's for a 5.4L. I'm still wondering if it really makes a diff without the airbox mod.????

I've had a K&N filter (with air box mods) on my 5.4 for a year and about 10K miles...I didn't see any performance or fuel gain so I switched back to paper filters. I'm kinda puzzled because it seems like I have better throttle response with the paper filter. The K&N is now sitting in a box in my garage.

Question

I only have a 4.2 V6, and after reading Marv's post, I removed my K&N filter and put back the stock paper filter. My acceleration now seems stronger and quicker than with the K&N. Does anyone know why this is when most say a K&N adds a few horses?

I installed a K&N and my mileage decreased slightly and the throttle response was awful. Mine is also in a box in the garage. What a waste of money.

I really didn't notice any performance difference, but that's not what I bought if for. 1 K&N lasts longer than 20 paper filters. Those paper filters are expensive! This is the same reason I use extended drain interval oil.
