Unhappy Order Delay

VOPC has been saying that that my order is "in a temporary delay status in production." I guess they ran out of blue paint. Seriously, anyone else's order delayed? Dealer no help at this point. Thanks.

I ordered my supercrew 9 weeks ago and it is still unscheduled. According to the dealer, it was supposed to be picked up for scheduling two weeks ago, but due to "production delays" it never was. If my dealer isn't just yanking me around, it is supposed to get scheduled this Friday (the production delays may be over?).

If anyone has more information I would like to hear it.

What? I have not heard of this option with the Screw. What do you know about it, cost, where is the tank placed, anything else that you might know about it would be appreciated.

Dutchy,
Arizona is giving tax breaks and grants to individuals or businesses that use alternative fuels (propane, natural gas or electric). The dual fuel conversion that I chose (dealer installed gas/propane) makes me elligable for a grant worth 30% of the price of the vehicle, no sales tax, and $70 lifetime registration. Also, I will be reimbursed for the cost of the conversion.

I had the option of mounting the propane tank under the bed, or in the bed. I chose in the bed because I do a lot of off-roading and the under-the-bed option reduced the ground clearance. I don't plan on doing much hauling, so I don't mind sacrificing more of the bed.

I haven't got to drive on yet, but there is suposed to be just a minor decrease in hp when using propane. You can switch between propane or gas by flipping a switch on the dash.

According to my dealer, Ford will not offer a factory installed conversion on the Screw.

I wouldn't have even considered this option if not for the cash incentive here in Arizona. Since July, about 5,000 applications have been turned in.

To give you all something to gauge delivery by. I ordered my S-Crew on 06/21/00 through Phil Long Ford Internet (fleet) sales in Denver. I paid invoice price with a savings of over $4200. They are a Blue Oval Ford Dealer. The order was accepted by Ford on 06/22/00 and VPOC immediately reported a "Build Date" of the week of 08/21/00.

Checked VPOC on 08/22/00 it reported truck being built with expected delivery week of 09/04/00. On 08/24/00 VPOC reported "Truck built and relased to convoy carrier". I received my S-Crew on Tuesday 08/29/00.

There was a production delay of 3 to 4 weeks for S-Crews which were ordered in June and July for re-tooling of the KC plant for "Superduty's". Even so my order was processed and truck delivered to me in 9 weeks. There were no additional charges and we closed the deal for the agreed upon price.

UGH!

The VOPC as of today indicates:

"As of September 11th (today is September 7th) your vehicle is locked in for production. Your vehicle will be built the week of September 11th. Estimated arrival time to your dealership is October 9th"

28 DAYS FROM BUILD TO RECEIVING VEHICLE!!!!???

I have read a few posts indicating that some vehcles were delivered and received much quicker than the ETA's given on the VOPC. Anyone have any info regarding delivery into the Chicagoland areas?

GAWD THIS IS TAKING FOREVER! Ordered the darn thing July 14th.

G-money,

I had a heart to heart with my dealer today, especially after VOPC said that my "information can not be located at this time". My dealer spoke with his regional representative and he explained the situation to me as follows: the VOPC arrival date is not always accurate, but the production date is almost always accurate. Something between building the truck and delivering the truck gets lost in translation. The dealer said that it is not unusual for a truck to show up on his lot even though it is not scheduled for shipment for another week. Go figure. Supposedly, it is rare to go more than 3 weeks from build to delivery regardless of the schedule.

Anyway, in less than 6 hours, I have gone from having my "information" lost to back to being in a temporary production delay. Sometimes, you just got to laugh.

VMF,

Don't forget the dessert. Now with the Supercrew arriving, you'll have plenty of cargo space for all the pumpkin pie you can stuff in the back. The turkey can ride up front with you........

Thumbs up

Here is my experience with VOPC so far. I ordered on 7-3-2000. The vehicle remained unscheduled until sometime in August. Then the build date was the week of 9-4. Later in August they started saying as of 9-5 the build date was week of 9-4 with an ETA of 10-9. Week of 9-4 they started saying as of 9-5 build date was week of 9-4 with an ETA of 9-25. As of this morning(9-8-2000) VOPC says that as of 9-5 the vehicle has shipped.

Not sure what all this means but I will start calling my fleet manager most regularly.

Unbelievable!

VOPC has updated once again indicating that my vehicle will be built week of Sept 11th (no change) with an estimated delivery date of September 25th.

This is more than two weeks better than what they reported yesterday!

I wonder if they are reading the board!?

I hope there is more movement in this direction.

Oh well, at least I saw today that edmunds.com rated the f-150 1st before the chevy, toy, and dodge. Duhhh. Edmunds compared the 2000 models so I'm not sure how new the review is, but it was listed under the "new" comparison section when I pulled the site up.

OK,

A lot has changed on my truck delivery over the past week.

Yesterday it said as of 9/12 truck was buit and sent to the shipping department with an ETA of 9/25.

Today,

VOPC states as of 9/11 - Vehicle built and shipped. ETA still 9/25.

I suspect that it will be in the dealer next week.
