5th Wheel Trailer Towing w/ SCrew
I forgot to mention that I did find a post from May of 2000 titled 5th/gooseneck towing that had a few posts, but didn't affirmatively answer my question. There were two opinions there - one was that because the hitch has to be placed just inches ahead of the rear axel, the hitch would ride too far back in the SCrew bed. The other post said that the hitch mounted too close to a brace and had to be moved too far forward which might torque the sheetmetal. Anyway, I look forward from hearing from anyone who has more affirmative anwers to my question.

Hi jtray, the fifth wheel hitch that goes in the bed is mounted over the rear axle. A short bed F150 Rgecab or Supercab can handle the 'old' style 5th wheels where the connector neck sticks out from under the trailer somewhat. They won't work with the newer models where the connection is recessed under the sleeping compartment.
I don't think the new or the old style will fit a SuperCrew.
Remember, even if it did hook up, it's been my experience that eventually you'll have to make a left or right turn.

I saw a post under another topic which implied that you can't tow a 5th wheel travel trailer with the SCrew. I don't currently have a 5th wheel but I planned on buying one in the next couple of years - probably a 28 foot tandem axel. I like the bigger size bed (the one you sleep on) that most 5th wheels have as opposed to the smaller beds in most regular travel trailers of the same length. Will the 5 1/2 ft. SCrew bed handle the 5th Wheel hitch? Is the bed too narrow or too short? Has anyone done this yet? I would definitely raise the suspension on the 5th Wheel so that the trailer height matched the truck ride height. Thanks for your help.
