Question Anti-theft System Questions...

I have a question concerning my Anti-theft system in my Supercrew. To me it doesn't seem to be working. When compared to my 98 Eddie Bauer Explorer, on the explorer after double pressing the key fob and waiting for the horn, the theft indicator remains solid for aproximately one minute. Then it procedes to blink indicating that the alarm is active. Followed up by sitting in the vehicle and opening the door the alarm goes off. However, with the Supercrew the theft indicator light does neither. It just blinks farely quickly all the time and I'm wondering if it is protecting anything compared to the explorer, unless the systems on either vehicle are diffrent. Any input on users and their SCrews would be appreciated.

What you have is the keyless entry and a panic alarm only. It is not a vehicle alarm. The anti theft has something to do with the stock keys being the only ones to start the supercrew. Full alarms are available from the dealerships and aftermarket shops. If anyone has one installed I would like for you to post some info. Thanks.

Codealarm makes an ad on alarm for the keyless entry which allows you to use your existing keyless entry remotes.

They call it Sureguard40 and I think it retails for around $140 plus install.

The "PTS" (passive theft system) is very basic and will allow only programed keys to start your engine. Caution if your have large metal items on your key chain, or and additonal electronic device, it may interfere with your ability to start your engine.
