Question BFG 285/75/16 on supercrew

Ok Fellas, I know I should be asking this in the tire section. Since it seems that the Crews front end is lower than the rear would I need to have it lifted? I want to put BFG's 285/75/16 on my crew and the people from Discount Tire feel that they will be to big. I have the stock GY...265/70R/17. I know I need to change the rims. Anybody have 285's on already? I only off road a few times a year while hunting but I want a more aggressive look. So what do my fellow Crew Drivers think?

Thumbs up

Veloci,
Thanks for the offer, but I just put BFG 285/75/16 with AR Baja 172's on today. Man what a change. Rides a lot better than the stock 265/70/17. Take a look and let me know what ya think. Thanks everybody for all the help in picking the best tires. www.geocities.com/r8412

Question

Thats a good looking truck you have got there. Where did you get the nerf bars? What brand are they? Are those wheels chrome or polished aluminum?

Cool

Mjhind,
Thanks for the comment. The nerf bars are Westin Chrome plated Stainless. They also have a life time warranty. They run about 350-375 in price, but that's for a Supercrew. They are very strong as well with no drilling at all. I got them at Offroad warehouse here in San Diego. You can also get them at Pep boys. The wheels are polished aluminum. They cost me 100 bucks each. My crew is much improved with the BFG tires and I love the look with the AR Baja's.

Cool

Ford Outfitter,

I have a quote from a place in Austin for the westin bars installed at 355. It was nice to see your truck with the tires and nerf bars like I am going to get. They just confirm that they do look good on the Screw. My only other choice is the wheels. I'm still looking for a style that I really like. Your's look good!!!

Ford Outfitter,

Did you do a torsion bar adjustment for the lift? How much lift and did you do a front end alignment?

Dewayne,
I did not have to do a torsion bar adjustment. I could I guess if I want, but I feel better leaving it as it is. No rubbing and much better performence. Why change a good thing? I plan on putting better shocks on though.
